He comes back down with a small canvas pouch, and reaches in to extract a crystal.

It's a bright electric blue, with an obvious spiraling inclusion -- a crack, really -- on the inside.

"It...wasn't perfect, but it. It was mine, you know? I mean, not really, I kind of stole it, but..."

"But it suits you. And - attuned, at least partly? Wouldn't've been much good to anyone else, then."

"Yeah, we're both weirdos."

He looks affectionately at the crystal.

"Attuned, but...Jedi don't like anybody else having kybers at all. These things are everywhere as decoration just because they don't want 'em anywhere else.

So, theft."

"Well, you won't get any complaints from me."

"Yeah, I figured I wouldn't."

He slips the crystal back in its bag and tucks it into his pocket.

"It deserves a place to shine. Thought you could maybe help a little."

"Sure. D'you want to put it in a 'saber, or show it off?"

"...it's probably a bad idea for me to have that kind of weapon, huh?"

He touches the crystal in his pocket.

"But I want it anyway."

Nod. "Then that's what you'll do."

"I'll respect its power. But also use it to make toast."

He opens the door of the ship, grabs a bag and steps out into the sunlight.

She follows, levitating the rest of their acquisitions behind.

Daisy and Nine have cleared out from the front room; she piles the things on the table and begins floating the food into its designated places.

"I'd help with the floating but I'd probably break something."

He contents himself with watching the little food parade.

"Yeah, no worries." It's quickly done, anyway.

"Wanna come meet the goat?" she asks, hefting the bags of animal feed.

"Um, yes?"

He is definitely on board with meeting a small angry farm animal. Lead the way, Dusk.

Hee.

The barn is around back, past the garden full of beans and lentils and cherry tomatoes and spinach and herbs and strawberries and a few less-identifiable things.

He looks around the garden, noting all the vegetables.

"Huh. I guess it does make more sense to grow your own stuff out here."

"Yeah, definitely. It wouldn't work so well to send Daisy on an eight-hour trip every time I wanted something fresh."

She grabs a strawberry and heads into the barn; stows the bags on a shelf  before leading Kai-Zi out the back door, where there's a fenced-in vestibule before the goat pen proper.

The goat notices them and heads over.

He follows suit and pops the strawberry in his mouth. (It's delicious.)

When the goat approaches he leans over the fence a little.

"Hi."

He can talk to goats if he wants.

He can! The goat whuffles at his hands for a moment before switching her attention to Dusk, who gives her the strawberry.

"Her name's Jasmine; I call her Jazz. The chickens are all named after flowers, too, Daisy named them."

Awwww.

"That's cute as hell. What're their names?"

"There's a couple I can never remember, but that one's Queenie - queen Anne's lace - and that's Clover, and Lilly, and Petunia."

"I love them already."

He thinks for a moment.

"So I should probably help with some of this stuff if I'm gonna be in your house eating your food, right?"

"Not really. Daisy takes care of it, and droids don't do so well if they don't have enough work to do; it's not that much harder harvesting for two than for one."

He nods.

"...I get why they're built that way, but it seems wrong, sometimes.

I guess they wouldn't get built at all otherwise, though."

"Yeah. And, like - I don't like a lot of things about how Daisy was made, but that's one of the ones where, if I changed it, she wouldn't really be her any more. And I do like her even if I don't like that."

"I think I get what you mean."

He's made a little wrong too.
