for another lonely night
Serafin will have a very pleasant surprise tonight
Permalink Mark Unread

This city's nights aren't what they used to be, the vampire hunter muses to herself as she stalks the dark alleys of Los Angeles. Naturally, it was her goal, it's good that vampires are so much rarer nowadays and that people are much safer. It's just very boring.

She turns another corner, throws her carefully-carved leather-handled stake up higher than it should go then catches it again.

It's lucky the multiverse is so large, she continues to muse, because she thinks there's a decent chance the Earth will become wholly and entirely boring in her lifetime, and so she'll have to go hunting for other problems to solve. It'll be an adventure.

Throw stake up, turn another corner, catch stake.

Permalink Mark Unread

This corner has a vampire around it!

He's got somebody shoved up against the wall of an alley with his hand down their pants and his teeth in their throat. The individual in question does not look happy to be here.

Permalink Mark Unread

...well they could! Does this guy not know how vampires work? Does he have to rape as well as eat?

That's thoughts in parallel to the already practised motions of her body, though. Like clockwork, one-two, the stake is being thrown at the vampire with supernatural precision and another one is being grabbed from her belt—the angle is wrong for killing but should be good for hurting—

Permalink Mark Unread

—except that at just the last moment, the vampire spins, and the stake catches his victim in the shoulder. He takes the time to give his attacker a mildly perturbed look, still holding the now-screaming human up as a shield against further projectiles.

Permalink Mark Unread

Oh come the fuck on!

It's fine, anyway, she's going at this like clockwork, body faster than mind, one-two her feet pump her onto a wall and she steps against it to try to get an angle as she gets closer to the vampire...

Permalink Mark Unread

Hmm... nope.

He tosses his victim aside, and there's a crunch and another, louder scream, and then he's leaping into the air to meet her charge. He moves with a grace and power that mask his speed—at a glance he looks like he's floating lazily through the air, but he's faster than even a vampire has any right to be. And still accelerating. Can he fly?

Permalink Mark Unread

What the actual fuck. He's a witch? How the hell did they miss a witch vampire???

She tries to twist out of the way and throw a stake at him again, while pressing three buttons simultaneously on some electronic device attached to her belt. "Requesting backup, vampire witch, priority three."

Permalink Mark Unread

He laughs, batting the stake aside with a careless wave of his hand.

"Are you sure you want to invite your friends to this party? I don't think they'll have much fun."

His accent is unfamiliar, sort of broadly European but not congruent with any specific identifiable country. Her twist succeeds in sidestepping his trajectory, but he reaches out on the way past and playfully taps the end of her nose, just to demonstrate the degree to which he is toying with her. Then he catches the wall, turns, and hovers weightlessly for a moment, with the fingertips of one hand lightly touching the rough brick. His face reverts to its human shape.

Permalink Mark Unread

...okay, she is thoroughly outclassed here. Better stall for time.

"You do know you can make biting fun rather than painful, right?" she asks, landing lightly on her two feet and not making any more hostile moves.

Permalink Mark Unread

He drops to the ground as soon as she does, but there's something in the way he's standing that still implies that weightless grace. "Why, would you like to try it?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"I mean, if you don't kill me afterwards, I'm not too opposed. Especially if you also mix the pain in, both together sounds like a lot of fun." She turns to look at the victim. Are they still alive?

Permalink Mark Unread

"Suits me," he says, cheerfully.

The victim is lying on the ground moaning in pain with a broken arm and a stake through their shoulder, but doesn't seem dead or in immediate danger of dying.

Permalink Mark Unread

And they're gonna need some amnestics to boot. What a headache.

"I'm sure it does. Tell me, how come I've never heard of you?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"I'm not really famous. Keep to myself, mostly, except for the occasional hunt."

He gives her a considering look.

"Want to come back to my hotel room? I promise you'll live."

Permalink Mark Unread

The vampire hunter opens her mouth, then closes it and hums thoughtfully. Why should I trust you? she was going to ask, but... there's something about him.

She glances at the victim again. "What about our friend over here?"

Permalink Mark Unread

He shrugs. "Can't your backup deal with them?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"Just wondering whether you had any plans to be trouble for my backup. Who should be arriving in about a minute and forty seconds if I don't miss my counting."

Permalink Mark Unread

"Oh, I was thinking I'd just be gone by the time they show up." He holds out his hand, almost as though asking for a dance. "You coming?"

Permalink Mark Unread

How could I say no?

Oh, I sure hope I am.

That sounds like an exceedingly stupid idea.

Instead of saying any of those things, she merely steps forward—not quite as gracefully as he does, but nearly so—and takes his hand.

Permalink Mark Unread

He grins.

And—

The pair of them dissolve into the air and fly away.

It doesn't hurt, but it sort of feels like it should. There's a lot of sensation, none of it connected to a body—the ripple-flutter of whipping wind, lights streaking by below them as they gust through the streets, the indescribable sensation of air sliding past other air when you yourself are some of that air.

The journey ends, an uncertain amount of time later, when they dart in the window of an expensive hotel room and rematerialize standing next to the bed.

Serafin's clothes accompanied them on this journey; Jaqueline's did not.

Their hands are still linked, and he's still grinning.

Permalink Mark Unread

"—hey! I needed to warn my backup I wasn't coming back tonight!" She doesn't seem otherwise bothered by the nudity.

Permalink Mark Unread

Amused: "Should've said something beforehand, then."

Permalink Mark Unread

"I'm sure you can make my comm reappear for a minute so I can tell them that." She folds her arms in a way that seems almost designed to highlight her breasts, and pouts just a little bit.

Permalink Mark Unread

"I could, but I'd have to go back for it, and windriding's not instant, they're probably already there. Will the room phone do?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"Sure, why not."

Permalink Mark Unread

He shrugs and gestures at the phone on the bedside table.

Permalink Mark Unread

Well, phone, then. She dials a number, then hangs up, then dials another one, then waits three seconds and hangs up, then a third one and waits two and a half seconds before hanging up...

Permalink Mark Unread

His expression shifts gradually from amused to baffled.

Permalink Mark Unread

After doing this another four times (repeating one of the numbers once) she doesn't hang up.

"Hi!"

"Jack?" Serafin can hear the voice on the other side. "You're—not dead?"

"Yep, still alive."

    "Did you get -"

"Not kidnapped."

"...but you are with the vampire."

"Yes."

"Why? And why were your clothes back there?"

"Probably because I'm hot?"

    "Jack."

"No, I'm serious."

"Jack, this isn't one of our codes -"

"I'm serious."

"...and you're sure you're not about to die."

"Yes."

"And just to be completely certain, you are not in immediate need of rescuing, correct?"

"Yes, thanks!"

"If you're not back by tomorrow morning you know I've been hired to find you."

"Sure."

"Even though he literally disappeared into thin air and took you with him—how would we even find you -"

"Oh, I'm sure you can figure it out."

"Jaqueline, you do not pay me enough to deal with this crap."

"Mmhm."

"I might just quit this job."

"Mmhm."

"I'm serious, hooking up with a fucking vampire is not the kind of thing I was meant to save you from."

"Mmhm."

"One of these days you will get yourself killed."

"Oh come on I'm not gonna—"

"Jaqueline Orland, you pay me to tell you this stuff and get your ass out of this kind of bullshit."

"—yes, yes."

"You're positive he is not about to exsanguinate you."

"Yes."

"Even though you have only spent five minutes in his presence and he has God knows what kind of magic we've never seen there?"

"I will figure that one out later, I'm sure."

"...well, fine. But if you die I am going to fucking bring you back to life just so I can kill you again."

"Yes, yes. Nice to have this chat with you. Ta!"

And she hangs up a final time and turns around.

Permalink Mark Unread

The vampire witch is, by this time, giggling helplessly.

Permalink Mark Unread

"What's so funny?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"I like your friend."

Permalink Mark Unread

"Miranda's my employee, technically, and I might be more scared of her than I am of you. Maybe."

Permalink Mark Unread

"Really? I'm pretty scary, you know."

Permalink Mark Unread

"Well, as she pointed out, I have only known you for five minutes. But you can change my mind."

Permalink Mark Unread

"Hmm."

He looks at her thoughtfully for a moment, and then crosses the short distance between them with merely superhuman speed and kisses her neck. No fangs, yet.

Permalink Mark Unread

Ooh. Okay, yes, good decision right there, Serafin will have a moany blonde with ill-advised hobbies melting against him.

Permalink Mark Unread

Oh, that is really surprisingly attractive. He meant to bite her, but he finds himself getting distracted by a thorough exploration of all the delicious noises he can get her to make using only human teeth.

Permalink Mark Unread

His human teeth are definitely more than enough to cause many noises, but if he keeps on for longer than like a minute at this the noises will eventually get a tone of impatience.

Maybe the vampire hunter who flirted with the vampire wants to be bitten?

Permalink Mark Unread

Yes, he's sure she does, and he's going to get around to it eventually, but you can only bite a human so many times in one night and he'd like to make them memorable.

He picks her up and puts her on the bed and finds some more places to put his mouth.

Permalink Mark Unread

Oh. Oh! Oh yes those are some good places, absolutely. She wraps her legs around him and curls her toes, squeezing her eyes shut and making long drawn-out whimpery sounds against her own lips.

Permalink Mark Unread

She's cute. And very delicious indeed. He can spend a while in this particular place.

Not too long, though. There are so many other places to visit.

Permalink Mark Unread

There's another frustrated noise when he stops, but it's not a wordy noise and it's accompanied by other body motions that inform him this development is not wholly unwelcome.

Permalink Mark Unread

That's convenient, because he's planning to get her very very worked up and this probably turns out better for both their purposes if she's into it.

Permalink Mark Unread

...well that's just evil. She's gonna be whining a lot very soon if he's gonna tease her like that!!!!

Permalink Mark Unread

Good! This is exactly the desired result!

And, after an only moderately unreasonable amount of orgasm denial, he takes his mouth away yet again just as she's really starting to get somewhere—

—but this time, instead of going elsewhere to let her cool off, he turns his head and sinks his fangs into her thigh.

It's memorable as hell.

Permalink Mark Unread

"Oh, fuck—I don't even know your name how the fuck am I meant to curse you—" And she trails off into incoherent moaning as her spine slowly arches up to catch up with the feeling.

Permalink Mark Unread

The pain hits first; the pleasure hits harder. There's plenty of both to go around. He placed the bite carefully enough that he's not worried about her losing meaningful amounts of blood while he indulges himself, and he intends to find out just how high he can push her with nothing but his fangs and his will.

Permalink Mark Unread

High as fuck, it turns out. High enough—he's been teasing her and toying with her for long enough that she fails to strangle a long, loud moan as she comes, her back arching higher still and her fists crumpling the bedsheets as wave after wave of pleasure rolls through her body.

She's nowhere close to done with him for the night, though.

Permalink Mark Unread

Mmmm, perfect.

He lifts his head, licks the bite, kisses it affectionately, changes back to his human face, and looks up to smile at her. "It's Serafin."

Permalink Mark Unread

She licks her lips and looks down at his face, grinning. "Jack, but you know that."

Permalink Mark Unread

"Mmhmmm."

He sits up long enough to take off his clothes. It seems about time for that.

Permalink Mark Unread

She eyes him very appreciatively and with naked desire. Her wetness is currently not much evidence of anything but it's there nonetheless.

Permalink Mark Unread

He's in pretty good shape for a dead man!

He grins at her. "Having fun so far?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"You bet that pretty smile of yours I am."

Permalink Mark Unread

"My pretty smile and I are glad to hear it!"

He wipes a drop of blood from the corner of his mouth, licks it off his fingers, and resumes his exploration of her body. In addition to interesting places to put his mouth, there are also many interesting places to put his hands! And these things can be combined in a variety of ways!

Permalink Mark Unread

Oooh yes good Jack approves of combinations. She is quite ready for more.

Permalink Mark Unread

She is really quite a lot of fun. Serafin approves.

Hmm, does he want to make her come again before he fucks her? Yes, he thinks he does.

Permalink Mark Unread

Oh no, whatever shall she do if he decides this.

Well. Only one way to find out.

Permalink Mark Unread

Is she going to make gorgeous noises? He bets she will make gorgeous noises. That is his prediction.

Permalink Mark Unread

He must be very good at this prediction thingy, because he is correct, she will make many very appreciative noises.

Permalink Mark Unread

They are such good noises. He's a fan.

Annnnd now he will fuck her.

Permalink Mark Unread

Oh. Oh. Oh good oh yes okay this was a fucking great idea fuck—!

Permalink Mark Unread

He pays very close attention; he wants to make this experience spectacular.

And when he's getting close, he buries his fangs in her throat and drinks. He wants to taste her life on his tongue and feel her shaking with pleasure.
