They wake to the smell of food cooking in the other room, and the pleasant sensation of the sunlight drifting through their window and warming their face.

Sakura yawns.

{G'morning, Sable.}

{Good morning, Sakura. Good morning, Akari. How'd you girls sleep?}

Permalink

Akari grins.

{Excellently}

Sakura nods along with her headmate.

{Mhm! How about you?}

Permalink

Sable giggles in their shared mind. {Nice, peaceful night grinding chakra exercises and pondering animals to look for for upgrades eventually. Wonder what y'all's parents made for breakfast.}

Permalink

Oh right, it doesn't sleep.

Okay, yeah, breakfast sounds good.

{I wonder!}

As the girls step into the kitchen, they're immediately struck by the richly tangy, sharp, aromas of the pickled veggies and salted plums, salty and savory and fruity and bright. Following that is the earthy, savory, faintly sweet smell of the miso soup, and then the steam wafting off the rice. It smells amazing.

"Good morning, Sakura!" says her mother, still in the motion of placing the food at the table. "You're just in time for breakfast!"

{I get to eat so many tasty things I never had as a human these days, it's great. This smells good.}

Permalink

The girls tuck heartily into the delicious meal. Sakura is beginning to get used to the expanded capacity her inky passenger grants, and manages to eat significantly more than she normally would.

Their first two classes of the day drag by, the girls eagerly awaiting lunch when they can talk to their friends.

Permalink

In their first class, Naruto looks like he's having a worse time of it than Sakura: his anxiety and/or excitement leaving him fidgeting nonstop.

Permalink

Hinata, on the other hand, seems to be mostly fine through the end of second period, apart from being a bit worried about Naruto. She's definitely looking forward to lunch, but doesn't say much about it.

Permalink

When lunch finally comes around, the girls are extremely relieved.

{Wow, I've never been this excited for a class to end before!} Sakura thinks to her headmates as she walks purposefully toward the courtyard where her friends are meeting.

{Me too. Wonder if Blondie'll have something to tell us today.}
