Alfheimr is a pretty good place to wander, if you are nosy and curious and like finding strange things. Kind of thin on people, though, so he's usually looking to say hello wherever he passes.
But the last time he did a divination it pointed him east and gave him a sense of water, so... Make the surface of the lake ripple. "Hello! Anyone here? Just a wanderer passing through, trying to be sociable."
The water goes still and a naiad - a male one! - appears at the surface. "Hello there. What brings you to our neck of the woods?"
This is also a male witch! He looks about half like a clay sculpture of a person, a quarter a pitcher of liquid shadow, and a quarter like a human.
"Nothing in particular, I just spend a lot of time wandering and divination said it was a good idea to check the lake as I was passing. I am curious and like people. Proprius," he says, bowing a little.
"I do my best to make it a nice lake. We live under it, me and my girlfriends. - if it matters we are technically vassals to the - do you need the whole thing or nah."
"I do not have any quarrels with any of the Summer Court nobility, or in the Winter Court anyone major, or anywhere near here as far as I know, so probably not, no. All of you naiads, or have you done something to set up the air for a home below it?"
"They're a nymph and an oread. There's air for the oread one and she usually exits out the floor."
"Well, now I absolutely must charm you because I really want to see what that looks like from below."
"From inside the house? For certain definitions of house. Or just from under the lake?"
"It would be terribly rude to invite myself into your home, even if I suspect the architecture of it is lovely and like nothing I've seen before. Mostly I just like meeting new people and seeing new things, there's always something surprising to compliment. If there's any assurances or favors you'd like? I'm rank three in, well, most things."
"Most things, wow. I guess it's possible Nia's elaborate portal setup for her wandering shop needs troubleshooting again but I think her usual witch for that is rank five, I don't know how much portals you need for it."
"Almost nothing higher, and I'm never going to get anything more than I had when I awakened. But, yes, it's a sweet deal for the whole five of us who probably exist." Well, other than the huge drawback that means he's in Alfheimr and not a metropolis of some kind, but he doesn't even know how or why that exists. "If it's one of the 'opens in five cities at once' wandering shops I will not be much help, you need full rank five to ignore distance limits."
