Room 79 [homeroom]
Jaime, Hira, Nia, Lysander, Briar (and Jeremy?)

In an ideal world, homeroom wouldn't exist, and Hira could consult with all of the Jaipur girls before settling on a final schedule. Instead, Hira finds herself sitting with a bunch of strangers as she decides on her classes for the next few months.

The best way not to observe the schedule when it appears is distracting herself with conversation. She turns to the nearest person.

"Meet anyone interesting yet?"

"Some! Last night met several people. Went on a very good run for supplies."

"What was so good that you're bragging about it the next day?"

"A very good spell for finding! Everything on our lists, right there!"

Permalink Mark Unread

"Really! Is that spell for trade?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"Is not mine, think they might want it for keeps."

Jeremy isn't here, and she didn't see him on the way down here, so probably he isn't anywhere near her homeroom and she'll need to hope they end up in similar classes.

She glances around the room for mals, then takes a spot near the middle of the room, away from the vents.

"Shame."

Hira checks to see if her schedule has appeared yet- it has! She starts reading it quietly, deciding which adjustments she needs and which she just wants. She'll take a few minutes to mull it over.

Well, he was near some interesting New Yorkers yesterday but that seems relevantly different from meeting them, in this case. And that girl Hermes is somehow already gone over was pretty but not that interesting.

Lysander frowns suspiciously around at various corners of the room long enough to summon a schedule and then peers at it. Mornings look surprisingly okay... he's never going to be a statistician like his mom so why probability, ugh, but god forbid he try to get rid of it and get shoved into an algebra class he'll do even worse at... speaking of which... "Anybody got anything in G or H that's not a math class? It's got me in 'Mathematics in Nature,' Tuesdays only, free to a good home if you want it but I do not."

"It sounds like a good math to me, do you know differently?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"Nah, I think it's just bad for me personally. I'd sure take it over calculus or something but I'm more of a 'things in nature that aren't math' sort of person, you know?"

"Well, I will keep it. Even though I also have geometry."

Hira sighs at her schedule.

Vir Gatha kal: Poems Extolling Brave Warriors. Hira hopes that one of the other Jaipur kids gets that one, since there's no way she's keeping it. After requesting that change, she turns to Lysander.

"I have Stories of the Baba Yaga in block G."

"Ooh, sold, thanks!" He scribbles that down.

"I have Intro to Shop and Intro to Lab that slot, Shop's GH on Tuesday and Lab's GH on Thursday."

And for some reason the school put her in remedial algebra, but no one else needs to know that.

Hira considers it (you always consider every resource before rejecting it), but it's not worth re-arranging everything else.

"Not a bad slot for lab," she says. It could be a rough deal, if the mals haven't been cleared out since lunch, but at least it's not Monday morning. "I'm feeling pretty good about mine, though."
