Several people are already in the room for History of Artificing when Theun arrives with a couple others.

If the earlier classes are any indication, today is when the class will start showing what it's going to be like day to day. Theun's probably more excited than most for the early parts; he vaguely remembers early artifice being less mechanical.

"Good day!" says one of the kids who's already there when he comes in.

"To you, too! I don't think I heard your name on Friday, I'm Theun." He does a cursory check of the seats near her and takes a seat a bit farther from the vent.

"I'm Nia! And those are Zed and Angie and Alexei."

Angie waves, "We've met," she says, the words accompanied by a rueful smile, "Though I can't say if these two-" she huffs, "Remember."

Alexei twitches at the reminder, but he does, in fact, vaguely remember this person, so he nods at him as well, before refocusing on his sweep of the room.

"As Angie says, we shared some misfortunes. Briefly. Good to see you two are recovered."

Zed's own memory is a confusing mess of things real and imagined, but does remember him. They note this and tag him in their memory as 'real'.

"You too."

As with last week, Virgil finds a spot distant from the most talkative freshmen, in a cluster of similarly quiet kids. He tries to zone out enough that he can find the course materials; he's having decent luck so far at fighting his brain on the matter.

"You hear the gossip at lunch? Apparently all of New York's freshmen were in death shop, first thing this morning."

Permalink Mark Unread

"...that's a bold move." They're confident enough in their combat prodigy for the first shop of the week? As freshmen?

Permalink Mark Unread

"Yeah. The fix is in, somehow. Like they needed even more advantages."

Permalink Mark Unread

"...what did they do? Get a pet mal to scare off the others?"

Permalink Mark Unread

"Some kind of prodigy, I think? I don't actually know New York well, this was all secondhand or maybe third."

"Orion Lake," Angie shares, "He's a combat prodigy. I didn't realize they were confident enough in him to risk their whole freshman class, though." Alex is a combat affinity, and she sure wouldn't put that much pressure on him.
