The Dragon of the Spires said:

Those who speak through similar items, do not refer to me by something as crass as a name. If you must, I am the dragon of the spires.

Forgive my curiosity -- is it common in your world for people not to use names?

Hi. Arthur, male. I live in Folctha, planet Cimbrean, first extraplanetary colony of Earth. Our suits have gone over this tablet with a fine-tooth comb and are pretty sure it's clean, but there's still some paranoia so I can't quite talk freely. I used to be a guidance counselor, but these days I'm the main liason for alien inhabitants of Folctha.

Your pedantics are irritating. You are going to convince everyone to stop interacting with you at this rate.

ha. yeah, THAT'S a problem i'm gonna have

(also: says mister "is that common?" "no")

Ha indeed. Your overly dramatic responses are amusing enough for me to try and provoke more.

@Tama: is that just a cute icon or are you literally a cat o.O

I am a cat-shaped familiar.

Hello. I am pleased to meet this forum.

I am an arborist. I do not think that there are any others here, so I can unambiguously be called "the arborist" or "arborist", and can more ambiguously be called "he".

Greetings, extradimensional entities. My name is Trudy Mertens, and in gendered languages I use she/her pronouns, feminine verb endings, and so on. I am a "transhuman" (I have backup capabilities, and some physical and mental enhancements which make a quantitative if not qualitative difference between myself and the typical baseline human). I am to a certain extent here to represent various major corporate interests (somewhat unified as the "Planetary Consortium") in my home dimension, although I am not maximally qualified to do so, and am selected in part for my personal interactions with various Terran groups.

.iunom. tells me to err strongly on the side of honesty here and to represent myself in addition to my organizations. (She's the one letting me access the forum at all, if only through her, and has already gotten a lot of political capital from the organizations I am apparently now representing for this. Not quite sure what she'll do with all of it.)

I, .iunom., am acting as a relay for the person Trudy Mertens, who is in part representing the interests of the Planetary Consortium. Her messages are posted from my account, because I do not wish to distribute independent forum access to others at this time.

What, precisely, is a planet anyway?

*Jumping Peppers!*

I can *smell* this *house* again for the first *time*! So good! We will *spit* words in *slow time* again. It is okay.

*Campers* like to say "hello" when they *smell* the Orz. We have learned this. It is *no function* but Orz want to make *campers* *happy* everyday. Okay... Hello!! Now you are *happy* I am sure.

I am Orz. I do not have the name because I am Orz. Orz is the name.

A planet is a very large spherical object orbiting a (possibly dead) star, which is rounded by its own gravity, is not a star, and doesn't share an orbit with other planet-ish things.

In the night sky, if you notice any "stars" which are unusually bright and move with relation to other patterns of constellations, they're probably actually planets.

Planets come in two major categories: "Telluric" planets and "giant" planets. Telluric planets can have radii in the millions of meters, while giant planets have radii in the tens of millions of meters. (A typical human is between one and two meters tall.) Telluric planets are typically made out of stone and metal and the like, while giant planets are typically lower in density, consisting mostly of fluids like hydrogen and water and such under high enough pressure that they're not really gases or liquids.

However, the Planetary Consortium is not made up of planets, nor does it really own planets. Rather, it represents business interests located on multiple planets.

(This is new.)

Hello.

It's nice to meet you.

"they" please?

I like making new friends. And I just found a cool rock, and a new room!

My name is Proserpina Incitatus, and you may refer to me as "she". I am pursuing my Mastery in Alchemy, and if the results of this ritual are reproducible, I expect I will achieve it soon.
