Oh, being physically unaging is either trivial or really difficult depending on your definition. With regular repairs almost any body can last as long as you want it to. Requiring no maintenance is an unsolved problem.

Maybe I should see if I can understand my sister's notes on the Goblin project well enough to post them in the resources thread.

Faith, another modification that can be made to chairs and tables to make them more comfortable to use is retractable posts, so the height of the chairs and tables can be increased or decreased. Sometimes it is easier to convince adults to add these, because it doesn't inconvenience them as long as the furniture is set back to its usual height when you're done.

A thing I hate and wish happened less is when everybody around is clearly upset and afraid of something happening, and probably going to rearrange your life over it, but they don't explain what it is because they think you can't understand it, and so they don't let you figure out what you need to make or do in order to prepare.

That sounds awful Fayet, the best part of life is about solving problems, having them kept from you would be terrible.

That is really bad :((( is there anything i can do to help?? do you have any idea what kind of thing it might be?

I do not know what is happening. A lot of the adults are arguing, and some of them have been contacting our deeper neighboring communities. I think some people are going to split off and move deeper, so I am trying to figure out how to use slime for runes, and get communications set up with the library. I don't know more so I don't know how else to prepare.

what are the adults arguing about do you know?

I am not sure. We have overheard some conversations about what to research, and what ways to help people in other communities, and how many children to have, and whether something was okay to do, and if the deeper communities could support more people. Most people cut off their conversations when they noticed we were listening, though. There seem to be a few factions that don't trust each other about something, but I do not know what. A lot of it seems to be in codes, or referring to context I don't have.

I wouldn't say I hate my mother but she and the others of my race are my enemies, now and probably forever. I don't know how many I'll be able to save from their genocidal intolerance but I'll do my best.

ugh, grown-ups

i have some tips for listening without people noticing if that might help?

also do you know anyone who's good with codes? they might be able to help! or if you know someone who's grown-up enough that the grownups will tell then stuff but not so grown-up that they won't tell you stuff, that can work really well

@Fayet:

Having people with control over you consider you beneath consulting on or even telling about decisions that affect you is -- not the most distressing thing I know of, but it is on the high end.

Is there any assistance I can offer?

This and comments you have made elsewhere are concerning. Your world -- one of your worlds? -- was destroyed? for reasons related to someone being intolerant of power not controlled by them?

My mother detected that the humans in my world were developing magic. According to the religion of my people magic is exclusively the domain of my species. So following doctrine, she set in motion the destruction of their world. I intervened to save a pitiful number of their people numbering only in the hundreds out of a planet of billions. I also tried to save as much of their genetic diversity and cultural artifacts as I could. I placed them on a planet I modified for them that my mother won't check for millions of years. Then I faked my death and went to join them. Hidden within the computer systems on their new world, watching over them.

...Holy shit. Anyone can do magic where I'm from; if your mother finds the forum should those of us from worlds with magic and without your species keep an eye out to make sure she doesn't have a way to get to our worlds?

The thought had not occurred to me, I don't think there is a way to travel between our worlds. I hope for your sake that there isn't. My mother uses stars as weapons.

Holy crap.

...

Maybe the gods could do something about her. They're jackasses but they're jackasses with senses of self-preservation.

I am unaware of the abilities of the individuals you refer to as gods. I hope that if my mother gains access to your world you have some defense.

They can fuck shit the hell up. Mostly they prefer to use mortal intermediaries but I bet they'd intervene directly if some bitch from another world came at them with a star.

From what I've gathered of your world, you say they're in a stalemate with your sister. Are the gods simply unwilling to escalate?

My sister is hella magic. Magic is way harder for the gods to fight than anything that isn't magic. And, yeah, they could in fact squish her if they prioritized that over everything else, but she would not go down easy and they're wary of that.

Then perhaps you are safe. My people's magic is essential to our culture and identity but it is not the source of our power. That lies in technology.

I hope so :/

It's probably moot.

really wish humans would take me more seriously sometimes. I mean, like, why even write a security AI if you're not going to give her any authority to actually, you know, deal with security threats?

Faith,

That might help, yes! Chayis is good at written codes, he figured out one where the words in a message immediately after ones with a certain pattern of vowels made up a different message, but it assumed the reader already knew what it was about. (We think it was about a plant or fungus, and a spell or monster, and that something was lost or hidden, unless they were being metaphorical?) And they got more careful about letting us see their written messages about whatever is happening, after that. Almost everyone we know who might help is confused, I don't think anyone knows all of what is happening. A lot of the older people closer to our age already left.

Noetic,

Yes, it is upsetting. It somewhat helps, emotionally, that I think they would tell us more if they were less confused, and that most of them are also hiding things from each other, but I would very much like to have more information, to decide what to do. I'm not sure if you can help. If we do move, we are most worried about keeping in contact with someone, and keeping access to the library. I am trying to make the devices I have for that work with red, but the changes don't always work. If you have a way to do either, that might help?
