...she grips the stolen sword tighter, and shifts to a position from which she could more easily spring to her feet if that turned out to be necessary.

The clacking of many teeth; the slithering of something incomprehensibly vast, and then... something that could be charitably described as a 'face' looms overhead.

"Speak, intruder. What are you and why have you come into my domain?"

"I'm—" what, not who "—a human?" she says uncertainly. "I didn't come here on purpose. I was out for a walk and fell into a mysterious void."

"A walk."

You could see the disbelief, even on the face of a barely humanoid hellserpent.

"You are not human. Why should I believe that you do not intend to be here?"

"...I suppose I might not be human anymore," she acknowledges, "but I at least started out that way, and wouldn't know how to tell if I've stopped."

Sniiiiiiff. Sniiiiiff. Clack-clack-clack, go the massive molars. One comfort- if the world-serpent's teeth show its diet, the thing is a vegetarian.

"...How curious.

Lark does not find those teeth particularly comforting.

"Do you happen to know how I could find my way to somewhere with - light, and trees, and weather. Civilization, too, optionally."

"The answer to that question depends on what you can do for me."

"...Go on."

"You can traverse the Abyss without harm. You are not quite human. but not Undead. Your soul must be strong. ...And I have a labour that must be done."

She watches the creature warily. This... really doesn't sound good. One of the sanest possible explanations for the situation she finds herself in is that she's in the underworld and this is either the Keeper or a particularly distinguished hellbeast, in which case whatever it wants her to do is probably going to end up destroying the world... but not doing as she's told is pretty likely to lead to eternal torment. And on the other hand it seems fairly likely that she has gone far, far past the underworld into some completely unknown realm, in which case she's still kind of suspicious of this thing's motives but she has even less information about what those motives might be.

"What is it?" she asks, after a pause in which she mostly fails to sort out her thoughts.
