There's nothing particular interesting around. Genea will call breaks occasionally. If he can keep talking for the rest of the day then eventually it'll start getting dark and they'll stop for the night.

Chemistry is intricate, and they're starting from basically nothing.

Chemistry is fascinating.

She's glad Aye's happy.

It's getting dark and this looks like a good place to stop for the night.

"I can make light but it still makes for a good break point."

Do they need anything for the night?

"We do not."

They have bedrolls. Aye can grab more water and heat some of it so Genea can make some travel food. They can eat the food. Aye can grab more water to clean dishes, then dry them. 

"So - shooting me?"

"If you're sure..."

She is very sure. (She can set up all the needed protections to be appropriately unobtrusive and all that).

9S's Pod pops its gun out and takes careful aim.

Then fires.

One of the small bits of metal hits her in the leg.

Predictably, this hurts.

She lets her leg fold, take her partially to the ground.

She laughs.

"Oh, that's marvelous! Try more center mass now? Not my head, that'll take too long to deal with." She waves at her torso. "Around here. Oh, no, wait, I should heal first-"

Summon out the bullet, concentrate, concentrate, concentrate. She stands back up.

"There we are. Now try it!"

...Okay.

This is so great. 

This one takes more healing. She does healing.

She is smiling rather blazingly. "Your pods are great, I'm a big fan. Does the non-bullet stuff have a lower key version too? Don't really want to try being all exploded right now, but there was the, what was it, laser-"

"I guess..."

It's a bit.. awkward that she has to talk through Aye to talk to him, here, but -

"Is - something about this making you uncomfortable? Aside from the obvious?"

"No, I think it's mostly the obvious thing."

"It's, um - the reason she can pretend to be a mage slave. And um. Was." And apparently part of her wants to defend Aye, now, as well as wanting this person to be alright... "Is it - something specific, or just - you're not used to it?" 

"We were built to fight for humans, not shoot them."

...Somewhat different 'obvious' then, she should maybe have been more specific on that.

"Well this is all sorts of relevant to fighting, good to know and test things now before we start on things!

...if you think it might work and feel like giving me the tutorial, I could have it shoot me? Actually unless you mind at some point we should check if I can do that anyway."

"That wouldn't work." He taps his head. "You don't have the hardware to connect with a Pod."

She waves her fingers cheerfully.

"I have very general purpose hardware!

But unless you mind we can check that later and just shoot me with a laser now?"

"Here goes."

There's a flash, and a chunk of her leg is vaporized.

She halfway falls over again, goes somewhat breathless for a bit.

Checks out the effect and starts promptly on the healing.

"Wow"

Healing healing. 

Grinning a lot. 

"Well, thank you!
