"You'll fit right in here then. I'll see you later."

Rex laughs and leads the way back out of her lab.

He waves goodbye to Tana and follows Rex out.

Rex leads the way back through the engine room - with no sign of Deke in the immediate - and then up the opposite set of stairs. "More cabins," he gestures grandly. "And the medbay, which I think you've been introduced to already?"

"Yes, I'm looking forward to learning what magic means in this realm."

Rex shrugs a little. "I think you'll probably think a lot of our tech is magic from what you've said, but it's mostly just engineering. Obviously magicwise you've got shifters, and there's a couple of other strange things floating around but like... I'm no expert."

"Even the best healing in my world meant magic. There was some that was merely herbs and leaches, but the best healing was done by mages. I want to see what that means, here anyway."

"We're probably not best for that," Rex admits. "We can patch each other up, but none of us are medics. And well... You've met Tana, and she probably waved off how they treated her, but they're... All the ones I know of are pretty much like that. More likely to write people off than try to heal, and charge far more than the whatever fix they try is worth."

"That's...that's horrific." Fury floods through Anders at the idea that anyone like that could call themselves a medic. "That's disgusting. You'll never get that from me, I swear. How dare they?"

"What, you don't have people out to make a fast coin wherever you're from?"

“Oh, definitely. But I...I didn’t have much chance to get out in the world until recently. My world. And when I came across people who needed healing, I healed them. There wasn’t ever talk of payment.”

Rex shrugs. "Just kinda life here. Don't get me wrong. There are good'uns out there. It's just impossible to find them when you actually need them."

"Best medic I ever knew was a torturer by trade."

"I suppose that's one way to find out about the human body," Anders says, his face a little screwed up.

"Oh, he was awesome. He gave good scritches. Why'd he have to leave, Circ?"

"Because the Shard was no place for him and Medea to start a family?"

Anders smiles. "That's actually a lovely end to that story."

"We still see them from time to time. We're heading to Mischa's, Rex."

Rex nods.

"I'll, uh, stay out of your way."

"Relax," Circe says. "There's not much to be done, Mak's got that covered."

Anders gestures at the ship with his hand. “It’s all...a lot to get used to. I’ll get there! Just might take me a minute.”

"I'm sure you will," Circe agrees. "Just be ready to learn to swim when we get to Mischa's. Best place we're gonna have to teach you."

“Oh. Goody.”

During one of the many trips out around Amaranthine, and all the nights out on the Wounded Coast, people had tried to teach him to swim, but his natural inclination to avoid being in the outdoors made him go only hip deep, and never into waves.

"We could just leave you at Mischa's," Circe muses.
