It turns out that, for all the fuss that was made about it, this dance is actually very boring.
This is only just barely a surprise; any event that requires chaperones is an event that Lindsay generally doesn't look forward to. But it is true. Lindsay has had maybe a bit too much to drink, by now — he's accustomed to Bacchanal rites; the feeling is hardly unfamiliar — and successfully slipped away from his chaperone, and yet it is still boring.
"You're absurd, and I have no idea what you've just declared yourself to be an idiot about, and I love you."
"My darling, beloved, ridiculous Leo," he repeats, softer this time, and presses his face into Leo's shoulder.
"Your husband is wrong about everything-- not least because he apparently thinks I'm a genius-- and I want to kiss him."
"I have fallen in love with the most ridiculous man. Ash, don't argue with him about whether he's a genius or not, he won't believe you.
And if the two of you want to kiss each other I would be very pleased to watch."
Ash kisses Leo, gentle and slow and with attention to the fact that Lindsay is watching.
Ash's body language is odd. He's leading the kiss, his hand is in Leo's hair and he's pulling, but he's almost turned towards Lindsay. Is this what you wanted? Am I good?
"My good boy," Lindsay murmurs, lets himself relax. "My good boys."
Leo pulls away. "Okay, but you're still wrong about the effect of tariffs on--"
Lindsay puts a hand on his shoulder and pulls him forward and kisses him.
Gosh. He is being kissed by everyone.
It is theoretically possible that Lindsay is not going to abandon him for Ash who is both his husband and better in every conceivable way.
He is being kissed by everyone. Leo is lovely and Lindsay loves him very very much.
Lindsay's body language has melted into submission; he's leaning into Leo's chest.
Leo's eyes flutter closed and he is utterly present in the kiss with Lindsay.
