"It was great meeting you, Regan. Jackson, thanks for introducing us!"

"Glad I could help. See you around, Argent."

She smiles at them and heads off, seeing no need for the last word.

Her family won't expect her home for some time. She can rejoin the other Argents, or she can use her time however she likes.

Regan heads to her locker. She needs to pick up a few things anyway. Mostly her camera. She's going to need it to gather the evidence for Gerard when she breaks into the guidance counselors office.

There are still other students in the school, but none roaming the halls.

An excellent time for a little breaking and entering. She heads over the office, casually, she has every right to be here, she is a student. And tries the door.

The door is locked. No one bothers her while she does her work.

It would be beyond easy to just break the door open. But she is an Argent, and an Argent does things smart. She takes out the tiny lockpick set she got for Christmas one year, kneels and starts on the lock.

It's not unusually difficult. Inside, she can see a perfectly ordinary office: motivational posters, small plants, and the smell of mountain ash.

Can she pinpoint where the smell is coming from?

The smell is too old to have anything as useful as direction. It's faint, unlike the cloves and mugwort that now overwhelm her senses.

-- she sneezes. Ugh. What the hell.

She looks for the source of that. Druid bullshit?

She can isolate the mugwort, which is stored inside a flower vase on the desk. She'll have to smash it to get to the source. The smell of cloves seems to be coming from a cup of tea.

Regan will not smash the flower vase. She apparently has some restraint. Though the smell is getting to her, she can just feel the migraine coming along.

Instead, she carefully opens the desk drawers and looks through them.

There is nothing particularly out of the ordinary. Notes on various students in the school and their struggles. No mention of Scott or Stiles, although Jackson and Lydia both pop up.

Sure, she's already invading someone's privacy, might as well go all the way. What does it have to say about Jackson and Lydia?

Jackson has been struggling with some recent news, which has manifested in picking fights that he wouldn't have last year. She called him in to discuss what was bothering him...the school will have to take action...

Lydia comes to her to discuss her academic performance...too academically gifted, which ties into her concerning attitude towards public perception; Lydia seems to believe that intelligence will reduce her social capital...her father's belief that she is an airheaded, vapid socialite...I might make the call without waiting on evidence, but Lydia seems to take it all in stride...

All very valuable information, especially if she's going to venture into hook up territory with them. More data is always good.

Are there any other things to rifle through?

It doesn't take much time to find a pouch of additional herbs, which she can smell as soon as she gets closer to it. One of them is wolfsbane-

Besides that, she finds office supplies, peppermints, and an unfinished crossword puzzle.

She instinctually steps away from the wolfsbane and does not touch it. Ugh. She quickly closes all the drawers.

Totally a druid. Only one of them would keep that stuff around. Plus all the protection herbs. Great. Excellent.

She can hear people congregating in the halls, after school clubs are letting out. She quickly sets everything to right and is out of the office, locking it behind her.

Anyone around yet?

Most students still seem occupied by their clubs, but she can hear the distant sound of the JROTC marching on the front lawn.

Mildly curious and in need of some sort of alibi, she heads in that direction. She's sure her parents would be delighted if she joined. Might as well see what all the fuss is about.

The fuss appears to be about men in decent-to-good physical shape acting in concert with confidence, discipline, and poise.

Some of them, anyway. Others are taking the activities less seriously.
