-Huh. I think Draak don't play games like this much, so I'm not actually sure what counts as twisty. I guess this one might be more 'complicated' than 'twisty'.

"It gets more elaborate later on and at high levels of play people can pull some incredible fuckery."

I can imagine something really weird happening in a corner where all these moving parts meet the right way - yeah, that's what I meant. What's that other one about though?

"Sarispen? It's fantasy theme, wizards with magic rocks trying to manipulate a field of play to set up the conditions to do more spells and achieve one of nine win conditions or a forfeit."

That sounds fun too, and it does sound like it could be twisty, do they have it here?

"Sure, the whole range except they're sold out of Whiteburn Diamond packs."

"Oh, uh, for Jewels of Sarispen - and some styles of Windowpane too but not the tournament style I taught you - you don't all start with a common pool of cards, you just own cards and make a deck with them and that's your deck. And you buy new ones to make more decks or refine yours. But the packs have random assortments. It's kind of a blatant cash grab honestly but if you're playing casually you can get people to accept a common card with a different card's name written on it and if you're playing to win prizes you can buy whatever specific cards you want already out of the pack."

He gives a tail flick. That sounds annoying. I don't like feeling cheated. Maybe I will still buy some if the movie does well.

"Nobody's cheating anybody, you know they're random and how rare everything is when you buy a pack and people trade."

But it FEELS cheaty. So I'll pass.

"Okay, I don't get a cut of the sales or anything, I'm just saying."

Are there games that don't do the 'buy more forever' thing?

"Sure, most of them. But you don't tend to get big communities of those unless they're certain specific ones with lots of traction like Gingham or Isoceles. The ones with a ton of expansions, with or without the randomized packs element, are the ones people stay interested in for years because there's novelty."

I was going to buy video games because someone on our planet had some and they looked interesting, but I think I want some board games too. Maybe not deck builders.

"Oh, sure, there's tons of kinds, do you know anything about what you do want?"

Apparently puzzle video games are the best kind for Draak? Something with not so many cards maybe? A fantasy or nature theme?

"I'm less into video games myself - hey Muo -"

"Kinda busy!" calls Muo from the tournament.

"Just real quick rec a nature or fantasy puzzle video game for Sunwind here."

"Uh. Um. Tree Palace, it's a whole series."

"Thanks Muo."

I'll make sure to get one of those, but I meant a board game!

He radiates amusement.

"Well then why did you bring up video games - uh, how about Spell Tiles, it's new so maybe it won't hold up in a year but I like it. Has a solitaire version and you can get fancy shiny tilesets if you're into that."

Because there are other kinds of video games, but the puzzle ones are apparently best for us. I thought that would be useful information for recommending a different format of game. Fancy tilesets do sound like Treasure...

"You place tiles and if you do it in certain ways you turn over parts of the layer below which changes what you can place next, I've seen it get eight layers deep."

Tail-wag. Yes, I want that. It's less expensive than jewelry, right? He glances at Temnin.

"With the fancy tiles? Depends on the jewelry. There's a cheap app version though if you just want to try it on your pocket everything," says the green.

I don't have one of those and don't really want to get one. I'd break it before the sun sets. I think I will buy a cheap physical version.
