"I think she was also doing something but I don't think she was doing all of it? I guess they could have practice making it look like it's all him, only, why would they have practice making it look any which way, if they rely on the memory effect normally."

"It might work in their favor if the more salient of the two was obviously not capable of doing mind control? Or it could just be that they are conservative about whether the Countess might lose a child from power use."

Buttons done! Now she can... take off her skirt.

There, now she is in her undergarments behind an unmarried man in her changing room.

"Espers spontaneously abort if they accumulate a lot of backlash while pregnant but it's specifically backlash that does it, I'm so skeptical about empowered having this problem."

"I believe flight can harm the baby in the same way it can make unempowered nauseous."

.... her undergarments are also wet. Because water can soak through clothing. A fact she already knew but for some reason did not remember.

Maybe she can figure out a way to maneuver into new undergarments on top of the old ones and then remove the old ones without taking off the new pair.

"I think pregnancy makes people nauseous? But flying - in a vehicle, not with a power - makes people nauseous and is not a miscarriage risk factor."

"How fast do your vehicles move compared to a horse?"

This leg goes here...

"A car on the highway without much traffic can do, like, eighty miles an hour. An airplane can cross the Atlantic in... hours, I forget how many hours. More than four and less than twelve, I think."

So Lucette flew from York to London in less than four hours, and that's approximately 200 miles, meaning th-THUNK.

Apparently she can't do math and clothing gymnastics at the same time.

"- are you all right?"

"Yes. I... clothes.... Um. I believe I can fly as fast as one of your cars if I push myself but do not do so normally." Lucette says, her voice an octave higher than normal.

(Haru visibly tenses up over the delay in response but does not turn around.) "Why don't you, is it tiring or something else?"

So she'll have to respond quickly and not get distracted. She can do that.

"Largely it's just uncomfortable due to the wind but it would also be tiring if I pushed it hard enough for long enough, I believe." And this leg comes out of that hole and maybe she can still avoid having to take off her undergarments entirely.

"Is the wind cold or - I'm not sure what wind related discomforts you're still subject to -"

"Just very fast and in my face and if I'm not careful it will ruin my hair or my cloth-" RIP.

"- you okay?"

"-yes sorry I didn't mean to stop talking, I just ripped my clothing please don't turn around and see me naked." What is she saying.

"I won't, I just don't know what trouble you're having exactly - do you need help with this, should I go flag down a maid -"

"-no that would be an extremely bad idea, no one can find out I was doing this with you around."

"I could say I heard you fall down through the door?"

"Changing without a maid would be suspicious. Also you would have to leave and my understanding is that that would be unpleasant for you?"

"I would hate it but I can if I've got to and then I can go bother someone else till you're freed up for guiding."

"No, I'll be fine just very embarrassed."

What if she just rips the whole wet garment off rather than trying to do more gymnastics.

"I'm sorry!"

"You don't have to be sorry, I'm just too used to my society's inconvenient modesty standards." She balls up the undergarment and places it in a drawer for later disposal.

"I assume it doesn't help that - never mind - uh - um -"
