"Again. From your perspective. That Henry changed his last name?"

"Well I haven't met you two, specifically. Remi Iluka. Kered is a jobname," he adds, "From our home world. Some of the clones have been using them to distinguish themselves from their other instances. Iluka is mine, it's the name of an animal native to the islands we're from. My specialty is zoology."

"Mine's 'Tisik'," Tobir tells them, "It means 'wheel'. It's usually a Blue name, for reformers."

"Mine is Osian, which is a Red community leader that means 'equal share'. Kenta has not decided on one yet. But might pick something related to art."

"Or beauty. And we usually just call the most recent clones by time references."

"Of course, you're welcome to pick whatever name you like," Remi adds. He looks around, taking in the growing crowd as latecomers join those waiting for the people coming off the ship, and then makes a shooing motion, "Let's get off the dock," he suggests.

As they walk, he looks between the three younger Amentans, "How have your magic studies been going?"

"We are going to figure out what our power crystals are any day now. Also, I finally manage that spiral shaping trick."

"He did. I am getting better at changing living things to crystal and back. Tutor, Henry Tutor," he adds to the benefits of the new clones, "moved to eggs. Haven't seen the results yet."

"Hey, that's my line," he tells Kenta with a laugh. And to Remi, "I've been practicing with the plant-shaping crystal. I finally convinced the idili flowers to play nicely with the plants here, and the Gabes have been using some of the ones that came from that in their designs." He points at one as they pass it.

"That's wonderful!" Remi tells them, "At this rate I'd say you really will develop your empowered crystals before you're four," he adds. "Just in time for those mysterious other powers to come in, for you two, supposedly."

"They are gorgeous," the Gabe with them agrees. "The Tutor you must be a really good teacher," he adds to Henry and Heri.

"I was going to say that they must be good students, but considering both alt-hood and alt-hood family relations that still feels too self-congratulatory."

"A bit of a hazard around here, that," Remi agrees with a chuckle.

"I will try not let it get over our heads. Anyway, tell us more about this reef."

"The one we explored was a short trip away from the island I mentioned, with the waterfall..."

The reef is a riot of colours and life rising from the pale bones of the dead coral shell. Full of a massive variety if marine life for this world, the water within is the perfect place to study the ways the terraforming of this world interacted with the life which had already been present. Some rare few of the species within seem to be completely unrelated to the seeded ones, marking them as ones which have survived the long years since the terraforming occurred.

Remi stands on the deck of the boat belonging to the outpost, leaning over the rail to offer his hand to one of the friendly dolphin-alikes. The pink-speckled silver creature noses him curiously, making a high-pitched clicking noise, before slipping back into the water to rejoin its pod. He smiles after it, and then turns to look at the trio of almost-four-year-olds lounging on the deck.

"If you're going to work on your crystals all morning, why did you even come along?" He asks, amused.

Tobir looks up from where he's focusing on his arm, offering Remi a grin, "Aw, come on, Uncle, we're almost there! For real, this time!"

"We really are. I can feel the color almost taking hold."

"You can even see a shade of something sometimes."

He shakes his head, "That might be so, but I brought you out here to help me collect samples," he reminds them.

"Give us a couple more minutes?" Tobir asks, "You have to set up the tanks, right?"

"Well, alright. A few more," he agrees. He crosses the deck, carefully setting his feet so he doesn't step on anyones legs, and disappears inside the cabin.

They return to their inward focus on crystals.

It eventually pays off, when Heri produces a lustrous black crystal with a clear reflective sheen.

"Anti-magic!"

What an effective distraction! Tobir scrambles up on his knees on the deck to get a closer look, "You did it!"

"You did it!" Kenta tackle hugs Heri.
