"That's a clever use of a bodyguard. I'm... not spending most of mine? If it, uh, comes up. I bought the boat but it'll be worth what I paid for it at the end of the convention most likely."

That answers an important question, but there's others that she can't quite put into words.

How much does this hurt, ordinarily? isn't really an important one, she knows it often hurts but that it won't be nearly as much as with the Asmodean, and she's not afraid of a small amount of pain.

She's not sure what exactly it is that she is afraid of. She isn't even really that afraid of having another child on her own, she hadn't thought through how much it would cost but she thinks she could feed another if she's openly practicing as a cleric even without how much she has saved up from the convention.

Could you hold me and do nothing more than hold me while we lie on the deck until I'm used to that? is closer, but she can't quite bring herself to say that.

Instead, she asks "Do you have any children?"

"...not unless I did something out of the ordinary while really drunk, I see whores now and then but when I won't go indoors with 'em it's easier to convince them to just, uh -"

He's very straightforward and she's overthinking this.

She moves closer and leans in to hug him, only tensing up a little bit.

He wasn't expecting that! Hug.

She's scared but also he's warm and this feels nice if she does't think about being trapped and she's not even really trapped right now because she has her knives within reach and the boat is pointed the right way now and he stopped last time and they're not even lying down now.

"Can we just do this and not - other things, for now?"

"- yeah. ...how long is now."

She tenses up a bit more. Shrugs.

“Dunno. A bit until I get used to this.”

How long does it take to get used to a thing. His data points range from "seconds" (changes in the weather) to "forever" (being inside a building). Probably it is somewhere in there. It is as he thinks about it becoming less likely that it's "seconds".

The hug is pretty nice though. Hug.

Hug. She untenses slowly. Warms up.

"I think I'm more used to this now."

Oh, cool, that wasn't that long at all. "So I could kiss you now?"

"Yes."

He kisses her.

She very briefly freezes before kissing him back.

It's- rarer than hugs, and there hadn't been that much of this part when she was captured, even, the scariest part earlier had been the feeling of trappedness and the unexpectedness.

It's nice.

She's nice to kiss. He's not in a hurry to take her belowdecks. (They're out a ways, but not out of sight of other boats, so probably if they want to do something other than kiss they'd go below. He assumes. Maybe she also finds it alarming to go belowdecks on a sailboat, how would he know.)

She's certainly in less of a hurry than he is, though she'd follow him if he attempted to lead her belowdecks.

She's surprised at how nice he is to kiss, and how much nicer it gets the more she's able to relax into it.

"So I could drop the anchor and we could go down the ladder, if...?"

She hesitates for a long moment, then nods.

He grins at her and drops the anchor.

She smiles back, not quite as broadly, and follows him.
