When they finally catch up with the giant snake it lies exhausted, its mouth forced wide open by a giant magic mirror. Aria tries talking to it, but the poor thing can only think of how tired and hurt and hungry it is. So they try to remove the mirror as gently as they can, Aria opening the snake's mouth just a little further while Tora tries to push the mirror out sideways, but her grip slips and they touch the reflective surface and -
Over the next few hours, they get closer to Okhema, and the sky brightens to full daylight, though it doesn't get overly bright or hot.
And then, there's suddenly flaming rocks flying, and sounds of screams.
"Oh no, Nikador's attacking Okhema. We gotta go evacuate the people, we will find you again!"
And she flies off towards the city, outrunning the dromases.
Phainon draws his sword and prepares for battle, though that's all that Aria and Tora can see, because a piece of falling rubble separates them soon after.
They're currently being assaulted by a small pack of the statues they saw at the Abyss, now fully animated, and destructive.
They're not going to abandon the dromases to a bunch of statues!
RAWR. Aria can you help me bite through stone?
Once it's obvious the statues are attacking she gives Tora Greater Magic Fang. Barkskin on herself, Tora has an amulet.
Do the statues attack only them, or the dromases, or the other members of the caravan? Can they be distracted? She can escalate if she has to, but if Tora can take them quickly while Aria guards the others she'd rather keep her spells.
The statues attack whoever they can see, though they give priority to armed people, and can be easily distracted by attacking them. They're weaker than a typical Golarion stone golem, but are still tough and strong.
Tora is armed with tooth and claw and she doesn't hold back against golems. Statues that attack the caravan are swatted first.
Aria tries to calculate if they can take down all the attackers this way without a change of tactics. Are there more coming in? Are their strikes landing on Tora? Are some of them attacking other people anyway?
She can heal Tora later but she'd rather not spend time on healing in the middle of a fight, or show off where the locals can see her. If they need to escalate, better to do it now.
About half the strikes land on Tora in a meaningful way, and while her enchanted fangs can bite through stone that the statues are made of, they still offer meaningful resistance. They can down a couple of statues that way, but there's more incoming, including some weilding bows.
Oh well.
Cure Serious Wounds. Animal Growth. That should keep Tora going for a while.
Aria transforms into a cloud with an angry face which flies towards the newcomers and grows into a small tornado. Call Lightning Storm.
How is Phainon doing? She can see better from up here.
Phainon is dealing with another group of statues a little off to the side, separated from Tora by rubble. Looks like he's doing fine.
Between lightning strikes and Tora's fangs, they can clear the vicinity of strife minions and get some breathing room, though there's definitely fighting happening deeper into the city.
The lightning strikes and the gigantic tiger will only last for ten minutes. Not long enough to go help anyone except the caravan. Can they get them somewhere safe, or at least less open and more defensible? ...is Phainon planning to stay around and guard the caravan once they're in the city?
If anyone is at risk of dying she can give out some goodberries, but even leaving only one per day for herself and Tora she only has so many.
Phainon secures the area he got trapped in, and then stares a bit blankly on the rubble piles around him.
Fortunately, this is the moment that Tribbie flies back in.
"Snowy! You're fine? Good."
"Don't panic! Leave this to us!"
She raises her hand and begins chanting - "I summon thee, Oronyx! Lift the curtain of memory, and stir up ripples of past reverie!"
The piece of a pillar that forms the rubble in front of her begins to fall upwards, before settling back on its base, restoring itself until it is whole again, and the road is clear.
"That's pretty cool!" Tora is quite happy with herself right now.
"...Are the people in the city alright?"
It is impressive!
"Is that a spell that moves and melds stone, or - perhaps a much greater variant of Mending, the repair-spell, one that works on colossal objects? Or did you really call on some entity to do it?"
(Aria is staying elemental-shaped for now.)
"Not all of them yet! We need a moment to gather for evacuation, and could come back and help you a bit more."
"This is the Miracle of Oronyx, the Time Titan! We can draw upon their power to salvage something from the past. It can't truly recreate the past, only undo a fleeting moment."
"Come on, there's some people ahead who don't want to leave! We need to protect them!"
"Some people believe that Kephale's light will protect them from everything. In a world on a brink of collapse, faith is all some people have left. It is our duty as Chrysos Heirs to honor this faith, and fulfil it." - he manages to sort of give a speech while running.
"I'm sorry you got involved in this, you don't have any such duty to Okhema. If you want, you can evacuate with the citizens, and wait until we fight the mad king off."
