Nia, meanwhile, goes and gets her in-progress beakerful of sleep potion.

Oh, wonderful. Kareen pulls a mug of tea out of The Sack, incants over it, and sips. Mmm, not bleeding on things.

Hm.

She finds someone who doesn’t look too busy, and asks, “Are there scarce ingredients I should duplicate?”

"- oh! You're the lunch miracle!" says this relatively unbusy girl in Spanish. "Yes yes, let me see what we have any of today..." She will cautiously advance toward the supply cupboard.

The school is apparently on board because the girl gasps in delight when she sees what they've got. They want more of this and that and this other thing and these and -

Wonderful! Kareen will produce endless amounts of arbitrary reagents. Also if there’s anything especially difficult to make that anyone has a bit of she can make more of that too! Here, have a crystal, alchemy takes mana too.

The lunch miracle is the most popular thing in the room even over and above the moon-harvested silverstrain watercress. A lot of these people are working on assigned projects that they aren't excited to have gallons of but there are exceptions, like this guy's laundry soap and that girl's healing salve.

Absolutely brilliant. She will duplicate so much healing salve. Also laundry soap, but seriously, healing salve good.

They are maybe slightly more collectively excited about the laundry soap.

Huh, interesting. That has implications about this place.

“How does laundry usually work?”

"You haul your things to the bathroom sink and do it there with the bathroom soap while somebody looks out for your back and then vice versa."

“Huh. That seems inefficient.”

"The washing machine had not been invented and no one has decided to die to install it. Anyway it would soon be full of mals."

“A real washing machine, sure, but there are washing boards. There’s a shop for making things in, right?”

"Where to store such things?"

“Your room? They’re not large. Just about yea big—” she starts shaping a rectangle in the air with her hands, then realizes she’s being silly and pulls a wood-and-glass washboard out of her Santa sack.

"Rooms also are not large and all things are hiding places also."

“It doesn’t have compartments or anything—I’m sorry. When I find something confusing I try to understand it, I’m not trying to argue.”

"Maybe someone would have one of these. Mostly we are just not very washed. But the magic soap is aces."

“That’s fair.” Actually now that she thinks about it, Bella said that bacteria specifically were particularly low due to “cheating,” whatever that means, so that might obviate a lot of the reasons why she would expect cleanliness to be a higher priority in a situation like this.

"Quite quite." She puts a jug of the soap in her bag.

Once everyone has as much soap as they want, Kareen is going to head back up to the library to pick up and put back as many books as she can before the period is over.

The library is gently steering her around.

Ooh! Any way in particular?

Well, when she walks into the stacks she gets introductory spellcasting material, and it gets steadily more advanced; it's not throwing her much that would be parsed as nonfiction back on her own planet.

She appreciates this! She gently pats the shelves and murmurs words of appreciation and oh right, she was going to try dumping a bunch of mana directly into the school, is that as easy as it feels like it ought to be or does she have to find some kind of access point.

Well, it wouldn't be easy for most people but she's part school. She can share mana to the school as easily as two students can exchange it with each other.
