“…So I’ve Dragon Fairy Elf Witched as many as several supernatural people that I met back home, and I haven’t figured out what I’ve got from all of them yet. Ruled some things out, but. I don’t want to say I’ve got longevity to hand out when I don’t know for sure.”

"It is sort of weird that you didn't directly get longevity as a power, it'd be of a piece. Wizards live a bit longer than mundanes - very occasionally a lot longer - if we die of old age at all."

Shrug. “I have It Gets Better. It’s not ‘it gets better, for the next fifty years or so, maybe up to eighty if you’re very lucky.’ I’m not going to die die, like for real, the kind you don’t come back from. Given that, not ending up fifty thirty years from now, for a while before I somehow end up young again, didn’t seem like a priority. There are powers I didn’t take that I bet would have done it.”

"I really wanna know what they were but I'm already more jealous than I am enjoying so maybe some other time."

“Sorry. I’d introduce everyone to the notebook if I could.”

"I know. This is already a lot luckier than I expected to get."

Nod. “I’m doing my best. Also, my best includes purple glitter on the notebooks I hand out, just in case.”

"The purple glitter thing is so specific."

“The requirements are probably not that specific. But I don’t know what the real requirements are, so.”

"Probably there are boys in this school who are as jealous as I am and would get more so if all the girls had a magic notebook," Bella muses.

“I don’t know that it’s girls only. It’s the spirit of femininity unleashed, not the spirit of womanhood unleashed. There are more and less feminine men.”

"Probably there are less feminine boys who are complete sentence otherwise the same," shrugs Bella.

“I am absolutely certain you are correct.”

"If you can be part school can you be part notebook?"

“Yes. Yes I can.”

An eye scrawls itself across the back of her hand, then vanishes.

"Does that make you more able to hand powers out?"

“Not that I’m aware of. It seems to mostly be giving me the notebook part, not the ‘emissary of a higher power’ part.”

"Can you be part spirit of femininity unleashed?"

“No, I’d need to have met it. In person. Notebook doesn’t count.”

"Damn. ...I don't know either way if you should try being part mal but if I were you I'd be pretty wary of the possibility even if some of them have cool powers and you should be able to filter out all the things that would seem like drawbacks, by the by."

“Oh, I was absolutely planning to, the drawbacks filter seemed pretty robust. You think it might be a bad idea anyway?”

"It'd... affect your reception, maybe not here where you're a fountain of decent spaghetti and meatballs," that's what she's having for dinner, "but if you ever want to leave the school. Though admittedly you do not look like a school and perhaps you would also not look like a sirenspider and you don't, I suppose, have to tell anyone."

“I would not look like a sirenspider. I told the notebook ‘I really like the way I look, does that mean looking like a dragon, fairy, elf, or witch would count as a drawback and get filtered out’ and the notebook said yes.” Also she wouldn’t end up looking like a spider anyway, Papa hates spiders, but that’s less relevant to all the non-spider mals.

"Yeah, sounds like it might make sense to go for it. And there are so many kinds and some of them have traits that would be in isolation neat."

“I wonder if Disney Princess will work on any of them. Agglos, probably, not that I expect any to show up tonight.”
