"Hm. Thanks." She probably is going to want to talk to his parents at some point, but again she has no intention of waiting that long to topple the applecart that the mals are snacking out of.

"You're welcome. Orion is really important to all of us; if something were wrong with him, we'd want to know, so we could help."

"I'm gonna go right back to gate duty after," chirps Orion, oblivious to the faint wince that goes around the cluster of students at the idea of post-graduation plans. "Maybe do honeypots."

Kareen notices the wince but doesn't know what aspect of the statement prompted it! Hey backchannel can you help with that or is it insufficiently intended-to-be-communicative. "What's a honeypot?"

One person's all it takes to be trying to tell her that's a faux pas and why, really.

"There's a spell you can do to attract mals!!"

Oh no these poor kids. "...So I totally get why you would want to do that, but why would anyone else want to do that?"

"Oh, so they're all wherever you're ready for 'em and not wherever you're about to take the kids to the park or whatever."

"I see. I'm guessing you don't currently know how?" Because if he did probably he would do fewer other things.

"Yeah, no idea, I'd have to, like, look it up."

"Cool."

She nods politely to the rest of the New Yorkers and leaves.

The nap she had yesterday was very nice but it was only a nap and she was up all night. She could in theory go find Nia but on reflection she doesn't want to feel dependent on Nia for all of her sleep-related needs. She heads to Luisa's room, checks it for mals and smites any she finds, sets up a ward that works by letting her know if anything shows up rather than by preventing it from doing so and therefore falls in-affinity, pulls a phone out of a pocket and sets an alarm, and goes to sleep.

She shows up at the cafeteria at lunch as is presumably expected. Presumably at some point she'll get tired of the whole lunch lady thing but so far she's still fine with it.

She is eagerly anticipated for lunch! Is her bag big enough to pull out a whole big pot of soup with a ladle? "Because," explains Ennis, "surely that would be less work, if we were dishing it ourselves."

The sack she carries around with her doesn't really work for that but she can totally do a larger, less wieldy bag inside her pocket dimension. Her pocket dimension is so convenient. She can produce a big old pot of soup! "I appreciate the thought."

"It's hardly selfless, I do so love a soup."

"Eventually I suppose I will get tired of handing things out and just pick a few things to leave massive piles of at any given meal, but until then, I do appreciate that personally handling things means mals can't sneak into them. Do you have any particular soup preferences?"

"Leek and potato?"

"Sure." She pulls out another tureen of soup. And keeps a fairly strict eye on both of them, lest they become infested.

"I can, uh, I have a... ward that only works on bodies of water... I don't know if soup counts..."

"It has a lot of water in it!" Probably a larger percentage by mass than the human body, even, but that would probably be creepy to mention.

"And like it would work on a pond which has fish and stuff, and... I'll just try it." He incants softly. "- yeah that worked. I can do more of those."

"That's really cool!" POSITIVELY REINFORCE the altruistic actions!

"Thanks - it's not a great affinity but it's, you know. Sometimes useful."

"Water?"

"Yeah."
