“You’re welcome! I’ve been wanting to hand more things out for—well, since day before yesterday. Normally I’m more patient.”

"Glad to be of service."

“Your magic is so cool when you’ve got unlimited mana and are higher on the food chain than the monsters!”

"It is! I wonder if this is what grownups feel like all the time!"

“I get the impression they have less of the unlimited mana part but I could be mistaken.”

"It's not unlimited but they have much better returns on building it than kids do and don't have to ration it so much."

“I am absolutely going to find some stuff expensive enough to make an adult wizard goggle, and then do that.”

Giggle.

At dinner Kareen watches the food line for a junior with pink speckles on his face. 

Here he is. He's going hard on the chicken nuggets.

"Hans Pracht, right? Can I talk to you privately?"

"- yes? I? - okay?"

Hand offer. 

By now everyone knows this is how people go visit Kareen in her school. He takes her hand.

"So I heard about your eyes and I want to help."

"- oh. Who's going around telling people, that's - nobody's going to want to -"

"Someone who hoped that I would be able to help. I can do a lot of absurd things. I don't think he told anyone else."

"...what can you do?"

"I assume you've tried healing potions but I might as well check before I suggest anything more extreme."

"Nobody I've talked to has one that'll work on something that delicate."

She hands him a copy of Ken's good potion. "I don't know if this will, but it won't hurt." Presumably.

"Do I drink it or put it on my eyes?"

"Drink it." She doesn't know for sure that a topical application wouldn't work, but Ken drank the original and pretending to know what she's doing has gotten her this far. 

Quaff. "- well, it hurts less," he reports, a minute later. "Still - blurry."

"Okay, and we've hit the point of extreme suggestions. I...don't know if your current situation has rendered reading more difficult..."
