If she puts the robot parts near each other do they automatically reassemble?

They don't do it super fast, but yeah, eventually the screws get into all the right holes.

That’s not very useful to her, then, putting them back together herself is the whole point. Although she supposes something that reassembled metal pets would have been less useful anyway.

What about the ooze-meringue, does that automatically restore itself if she pours a little water on it?

It soaks it right up and acts a bit more lively with a bit of water added! It vants to suck her blaaaahd!

It is not allowed to suck her blahd. It is allowed to go squish.

The sorting spell may or may not be perfect for separating maw-mouth victims, but it’s looking more and more like it’s not going to be perfect for obtaining practice targets for putting them back together. But she’ll wait until naptime to ask the Scholomance for another spell to try, and in the meantime she’ll keep using this one and make sure to pick up all the neatly bundled bits of mal for Aadhya’s and the others’ benefit later on.

Aadhya et al can make all kinds of cool shit with infinite mana and parts. Aadhya has a new messenger bag now that changes color on its own.

“Oh, nice.”

"I'm gonna make matching shoes! I came in with enchanted clothes and I'm not good enough to match their quality yet but my shoes are nothing special."

“That is so cool.” She does not offer her a copy of Bella’s shoes even if the idea is mildly tempting. “Man, I have been producing so many mal parts and as far as I’m aware that isn’t anyone’s affinity but yours, is there anything else I should make a ton of?”

"Everybody I've been inviting here has an applicable affinity - we've got here bones, leather, poison, armor, amorphous solids, and sinew - but I know the affinities of every junior artificer and some of the seniors and sophomores, if you want to hand out fancy wood to Isla of Manchester or weird alloys to Kishor Vaswani or glass to Qin Hua..."

Kareen gets out a notebook to write down who gets what. She is able to recall who some of those names belong to, because of her study groups, but not all of them.

Some people are artificers with affinities that aren't very materials sensitive at all but they may as well come play too.

She solicits brief descriptions from Aadhya when she doesn’t know what someone looks like.

Aadhya is a consummate networker and can at least say people's approximate height and coloration and what they would have been wearing before they started grabbing free clothes.

That works. …Does Aadhya have aesthetic input into the free clothes, Kareen has mostly been using her own tastes modulo lack of eyes.

"My mom is the clothes artificer. I came in with only the one outfit and I know how to let it out as necessary. I guess your offerings look - I guess what they look is futuristic but in a way that is parsing as partly retro and partly just weird."

“Well, I do literally come from the future.”

"So the rumor mill tells me, which is presumably why! Nobody's very - fashion, in here, really - I wouldn't know how to describe a more normal-looking cut of jeans, and whatever I expect is three years out of date, now."

“Though honestly some of the weird is just me, Bella said she used mesh pockets as a mal preventative and I was like ‘lace is also see-through, and prettier,’ lace pockets are not actually a normal future thing.”

"They're clever!"

“Thank you! There are a lot of things that don’t make a lot of sense when you have to worry about normal constraints that I can just ignore!”

Aadhya giggles. "Can you tweak things - I think I can turn the barbs on this mal's forelimbs into velcro but it'd have to be about twice as dense and a little less sharp -"

“Uh, good question. Let me see…” She pulls out the requested item. “Maybe check to make sure it came out right before you put a lot of work into using it.”

"Sure thing." Test test. "Looks good." She sets about making her shoes.

Kareen sits and watches her for a minute before she says: “I know you can work with human body parts because you didn’t reject the bones on that basis. I bet I can duplicate my body parts.”
