"I do not at this time have any ability to fetch people out of things in my original world. At some point I'll figure out a way back but the specific way I got here was one-way."

"How will you figure out this thing?"

"I don't know exactly, but I suspect it's going to involve the void."

"Did you try yet anyone who is in said void?"

"No, I haven't gotten any names for that yet. The Journal of Maleficaria Studies has kept me supplied with names so far, mostly. I didn't need them for the school's founder."

"There was a Toronto girl, I think? Unless I misremember this. I do not have her name."

Kareen notes that down. "Thanks, that's useful."

"I always appreciate hearing about horrible things happening to people!"

"Rumor says she did it to her own self!"

"...Oh. Uh...I'm not quite sure what questions about that are sensitive to ask, here."

"Then you had better ask me and not her clavemates!"

"Is that a usual form of suicide? Is suicide normal? Is there a reasonable chance she intended some outcome other than suicide?"

"Supposed to be an impossible form. Possible form of murder, but of suicide only ever the one or so I hear. Suicide is... usually plausible to deny except for the being dead and unable to deny things. And no I do not think so, unless of course she was murdered and intended not murdered."

"Why do people say she did it to herself, if it's known to be possible to be murdered that way and not to do to yourself?"

"Unsure. Possible she was walked to her room close to curfew and dead first thing in the morning or left a note or something? This was a couple of years ago and I do not closely acquaint with the Torontonians."

"Well, if I can talk to her I'll ask if she was murdered, I suppose."

"What if she was?"

"Well, that depends on if her murderer is still alive or not, I suppose."

"If they are, I mean. Very simple to make it a problem for never if they are not."

"Really depends on who killed her, and why, and if they killed anyone else, and what Toronto decides to do about it."

Nod nod. "We are not so much with the cops here."

"I don't intend to let anybody kill anybody else going forward, but I don't believe in punitive justice and I would really rather not become the cops."
