The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours. (Or: In which Ophelia found the source of the rakghoul plague, and Mace Windu found *her*.)

...Shall we just leave them to their reunion, gentlebeings.

"Like I said. Disgustingly."

"This is still something we'd expel Skywalker for. On many levels."

She shrugs.  "The Order did just fine allowing marriages for many, many thousand years before this policy existed, I don't see why it should be automatically disqualifying, but I'm a Sith Lord, I don't get a vote on that one.  ...You could just let him leave.  Amicably.  Instead of expelling him.  He might take the chance."

"Anyway.  With all of the Jedi having been pulled off the front, and Sidious having stopped mass-scale occlusion of the Force...

"One moment please, waiting for my cue..."

An indicator in her mask is turned on, after consulting the randomizer.

"As I was saying, I think we could wrangle a divinatory ritual together to find him."

Look, they don't like it very much, but they do make allowances sometimes. Ki-Adi-Mundi has children, his species are rare.

If Skywalker had just told them - he is General Skywalker, he's legitimately important to the war effort, the propaganda centred on him is the most popular and effective there is, he's synonymous with the power and success of the Jedi and the Republic in the galactic public's minds. They wouldn't have been happy but they probably would have made some kind of arrangement.

Instead he kept it secret and then he used the dark side of the Force.

They're feeling extremely vindicated actually.

...slightly concerned about the fact that he's now unshackled and no longer drugged, but, at least he's not a danger to anyone in this... particular mental state.

"Mm. We could. We're going to have the Council together again. And with what you know of the Sith... it's possible. What I want to know is Palpatine's plan. He clearly had a lot of them."

Did he actually use the Dark Side of the Force or was using the Dark Side a thing that was forced upon him?  He'd been pressing it down quite well for someone who had been being groomed by a Sith for decades, and she disrupted that.  That was not his choice.

"Well, clearly he wanted to destroy the Jedi Order and take over the galaxy.

"What's less clear is everything else he might have been planning to do.  Which is why we should ask his Apprentice if he knows anything."

Palpatine wasn't there holding a blaster to his head making him lash out in anger. He could, at any time, have made better, wiser, kinder choices.

We're all angry and scared. Doing the right thing anyway is what being a Jedi is about. It's actually what being a sapient being is about.

He's a very angry and troubled young man, so he deserves kindness and sympathy and discipline and not a fucking lightsaber.

"Agreed. This was a high-risk plan. He will have had others."

Useful to have a Sith Lord allied it is. Suggestions, does Darth Mourne have?

Astounding he finds it that Senator Amidala survived. Unbelievable that she resisted. Lessons she should teach. When less covered in soggy Skywalker she is.

I'd like to have seen actual evidence of him having lashed out in anger before I judge him as if he has, Masters Jedi.  Do you have that?  It's possible you do.

(It's possible that you don't, because, unlike you, apparently, she was smart enough to ensure that Shmi Skywalker, a point of leverage over The Most Powerful Force-Sensitive Since At Least Kriffing Vitiate, was not left defenseless on Tatooine.  Really, now.)

(Senator Amidala and Handmaidens, thank you for being conveniently around to help, by the way.)

You mean, uh, besides the part where he hurled you across the training grounds and broke multiple bones and might possibly have killed you if Master Kenobi hadn't intervened. They sensed that. It was not exactly subtle.

She did indeed make sure Shmi Skywalker was not left as a now much less useful slave of Watto, to suffer whatever horrible fate surely would have awaited her there! It was quite irritating! He had to go to some lengths to get her captured, tortured and murdered anyway. Anakin was simply too functional before the Clone Wars began.

Fuck you, Sheev.  Fuck you very much.

Yes I do mean outside of that, because nobody reacts well to that technique, it is literally designed to cause enough emotional disruption to incapacitate active battlefields when she blasts it at scale.  Do you want to have everything that's ever hurt you reopened as if the wound was fresh?

She did not know that she was going to find quite that much trouble, at the time, but it's not Anakin's fault she went looking for it in the first place.

Yes, actually. It sounds like a useful exercise.

Change their judgement, that should.

...Safe it still does not make Skywalker.

She nods, approvingly, but also with wistful sorrow, to Master Windu.  She can find the time.

Master Yoda...  What is safe?

Very, very little.

But powerful could Skywalker be, and prone to the darkness. Stronger than him, stronger than Sidious, could Skywalker be. Survive such a monster the galaxy would not.

If there is one thing she is fairly sure of, it is that Skywalker may have never been a good fit for the Order as it is now.

She thinks, however, that he can still be a potent force of Light, if given appropriate guidance and support from the people he spent many formative years with.

(...Also, Skywalker does not have the knowledge to become the second coming of Vitiate.  If he truly Fell...)

(It might take a capital turbolaser to sufficiently overwhelm him, but he'd at least die if he was killed.)

Oh, that's all right. The position is taken.

All right. He's not stupid. Clearly the Order has missed something. Seeing as they spent more than a decade serving a Sith Lord. They can compare notes on how people fall to the Dark Side.

(She's going to make a vacancy, Sidious, just you fucking watch her.  Or rather just you fucking don't watch her, because fuck your foresight and fuck you.)

Anyway.  Yes, comparing notes sounds like a good plan.

...There is one thing she has noticed that the Order absolutely does seem to be missing, by the way, and that is, somebody to put in charge of communicating to the public The Order.  All of it.  Any of it.

They need someone who can speak directly to the galaxy in a way the galaxy will listen to.

That's not directly related to Skywalker, but it is very much relevant right now.
