I often do not have a great deal of choice about where my trees grow, but they are usually far from the villages when they begin. However, trees live a very long time without interference, and new villages are always being built.

Could you please elaborate about what the Ivy would do, and what risks it might pose?

The Ivy I'm referring to attacks those who approach it without mentally controlling it. It can be contained by a border of sand. I'm not sure quite how dangerous it would be to the people of your world but it is quite potentially lethal.

Oh. I would not anticipate that people would avoid the Ivy consistently, despite its danger. I could not always be there to save them, and I would rather they not die so. I fear it would not even deter them, and might cause more to approach and harm the trees and themselves, in an attempt at vengeance.

I thank you for the thought, though. Perhaps I will eventually be able to protect them similarly, but less dangerously.

That makes sense. I hope you find a good way of accomplishing your goal.

*Sigh*

War. Over which king is the real king. How typical of these humans.

Dragon of the Spires. My sympathies.

Humans can be awful with no good reason.

I hope the war ends as quickly and with as little death as possible.

I hate when people expect everyone else to have the same ideas of what's right and wrong as they do and judge people for having different ones.

Ooh, that sounds like a story.

Well, lots of ponies are like "changelings impersonate our loved ones and drain their health, obviously they're evil", and don't understand or don't care that changelings don't see those things as evil and need to do them to survive, which is really frustrating. And then some changelings are like "Ponies hate impersonation and eating, clearly they're irredeemably evil and we need to take over their country", and don't understand or don't care that ponies mostly don't see that as evil. And if the Swarm were to act on that (and I'm afraid they might), it would mean all the ponies in Equestria having to live according to values that are really different from theirs and under the rule of animals who hate them, which would be awful.

People who abuse their children. Especially those who take advantage of their child's love for them to hurt them deeply and irreversibly. And then try to get custody of their kid back anyways as if they don't even realize what they did wrong.

I hate those who come to new places and attempt to impose their own moral standards.

It's pretty unpleasant when I'm forced to leave a world where I've made good friends. I never get to stay anywhere forever though so I'm getting used to it.

That sounds awful. Maybe you should introduce your friends to this forum so as to have a better chance of being able to keep in touch with them later?

I haven't made any in this world yet and there's no guarantee I'll get a chance to find this place again. I'll try regardless if I do make friends where I am though.

Government corruption and secret conspiracies are probably just as bad everywhere. I can't believe I still have to deal with them.

Most places I've been have at least some government corruption but secret conspiracies the sort of thing I'd expect to find out about and in most worlds I haven't.

What do you mean by "secret conspiracies", and what is it you dislike about them?

There are people within my country's government who were funding and running unethical experiments on kids so they could get ESP and other psionic powers out of them. It worked in more than one case, but as a side effect they accidently let a horrible monster into our world, and their response was to cover it up by murdering anyone who annoyed them.

A whole group experimenting on children like that? Please tell me that they got found out and stopped permanently.

In what way were the experiments unethical? Medical research tends to require experimentation of one sort or another so I'm always curious as to what other groups have as standards for research on humans and other sentients. My first fork was a specialist in mind-state research, I helped to work out the issues in the process used to create me.

I didn't ask the one we know to go into it. It's a hard topic. They were taken away from their birth parents and kept in a government lab where the scientists tried to get them to develop their powers, by causing them pain and fear. I guess it didn't work if the stakes weren't real. I don't think anyone would do that for fun.

They had to stop eventually. The public thinks they were responsible for chemical waste leakage, so they had to shut it all down. All of the kids were out by then, anyway.

So psionics develop when people are in danger? I feel like research into whether powers could be induced without actually harming someone or risking it sounds worthwhile but it does sound like they were awfully heavy handed and now that they have a null result it seems best that their research has stopped.

We might trust someone else to do it, but they also messed up by ripping a hole in reality that let out a series of increasingly terrible monsters, so no one really wants to try it again.

I also hate monsters from other dimensions.

I'm highly unclear on how their topic of research would lead to that but perhaps they had other projects. Either way I don't think their research would have been allowed to continue as long as it sounds to have in my world.

I hate those who try to ruin things for everyone else. Things are so peaceful here, but outsiders insist that their way is the right way. I wish they could leave us alone.
