They do have working plumbing and access to water—which is partly magical, pulling water from the ocean and purifying it—and food will be delivered periodically, so they're not yet self sufficient. Sadai wants to change that but wanted to prioritise getting them somewhere safe before starting work on things like farms and power plants and proper nonmagical plumbing.
