"I guess she wouldn't have attracted much notice here."

"It'd take serious effort to attract notice here!"

And there's a silver building in fact labelled Interdimensional Affairs.

Cor can't read it but presumably Findekáno can.

Yep. He translates. They go in. It's a pretty spacious marble waiting area with Elf receptionists behind desks. "Your grace! How can I help you?" says one cheerfully.

"We were looking for a guide. And maybe visitor's information, do you have visitor's information -"

"Of course - where are you from -"

" - my world's not in contact with this one, we just ran across you."

"- oh. Wow -"

"How many worlds are you in contact with, just out of curiosity -"

"Seven hundred sixteen! - now seven hundred seventeen, I guess - I should send you right upstairs to Four so he can hook you up with everything - who should I tell him is coming -"

"I am Findekáno and this is Cor."

"Hi."

The wall behind them slides open and reveals a little mirrored room. "Hundred fifteenth floor," she says, "he's expecting you."

"...And this somehow causes us to reach the hundred fifteenth floor? - how can I understand you -"

"Translation magic! Four'll tap you and then you'll have it too. Uh, it's called an elevator, you step into it and press the button for '115' and then it goes there and when the door opens you're on the right floor."

"Okay then."

Into the elevator. Button.

The door closes. There's a weird sensation. The door opens on the hundred fifteenth floor.

An Elf looks up from his glowing glass thingy.

"Hello!"

"Oh," he says after a second. "Do you want to talk to someone else."

"Maybe."

"Are there somebody elses available who don't report to you."

"Yeah. I - one minute please."

He disappears with a pop.

"Eternal burning void," swears Cor.

"Seven hundred sixteen worlds -"

"And he's handling them personally, isn't that - just - great -"

He kicks a nearby exquisitely pretty glass sculpture and sits down heavily on the sofa next to it. "That's why - they speak Quenya, they called me 'your grace', one of the worlds is another Arda somehow -"

Cor plops down next to him. "Isn't that just. Lovely."

How'd you do the disappearance point trick -

Cor tells him the chant and how to focus on the place you want to not be a place. But I wouldn't have if I'd known he was going to let me go - just as backup -

I assure you I'm not going to start by assassinating even-more-powerful-Maitimo. Just -

Yeah. Good to have backup.
