"Is there something you want to ask about?"

She detours into the garden to pick a zucchini for the goat.

He hesitates, and then shakes his head. He's pretty sure he wouldn't understand the answer anyway.

And barnward. "You can ask, I won't be upset."

He shrugs a little. "I-just. Still don't. Get it," he admits quietly. (He's asking the same question over and over, and he knows it.)

"Do you not understand - why we want that, or why we think we can get it, or both of those, or something else?"

"Both? Just- why you- care so much?"

"Well, we know how awful it is to be hurt and scared and stuck, and how it hurts people, and we don't like people to be hurt. Which doesn't really answer your question, but - seeing that someone is hurting and just naturally wanting to help them is pretty common. I know you haven't seen it before, but it is."

""O-Oh," he murmurs, frowning a little (it's more considering than confused, even if what's being said seems utterly alien to him, and far too good to be true).

"Yeah. Where you were was really bad, most places are better than that." Through the barn, and Jasmine comes over to see what they have for her. "Would you like to feed her?"

"I- please?" (He likes Jasmine.)

She offers the zucchini. "Go ahead."

He takes it with a tiny, shy smile. "Thank you," he says as he holds the zucchini out to the goat.

"You're welcome," she grins.

And after a few minutes, Pradnakt comes looking for them. "Ready to get started?"

"Mmhmm. We want it over there," she gestures, "and just a bay window on this side."

"Sounds good. Viewing platform?"

"Oh, I didn't ask. Nova, do you want to be able to go on the roof of your house?"

He shrunk in on himself a little when Pradnakt appeared, but is watching the interaction between the two of them a little confused by it.

He shrugs a little at the question. (There's a moment, where he looks almost excited by the idea, but he doesn't seem to have actually registered that feeling before his face is blank again.)

"That'll be a yes. All right, let's go."

She heads back out to the space between the garden and the garage, where the building materials are waiting in the speeder wagons, and grabs a folding lounge chair and beach umbrella from one of the piles to set up for Nova.

He blinks in confusion, with no idea where that decision came from, but follows obediently, winding his fingers together. He seems, a little, at a loss for what he's supposed to do now.

Sit in the lounge chair, apparently. She sets it up and arranges the umbrella to shade it and then gestures: "There you go."

He's still unsure - worried this is a test, but nothing else so far has been...

He almost creeps forward and perches on the lounge chair, half-looking to Pradnakt for approval.

She nods approval, and gets to work. First the scrub has to be cleared out; she sets it on fire with a few well-placed bolts of lightning and lets it burn.

He stares with continued awe at the lightning (although there's a moment where he flinches and freezes and realises just how easily Pradnakt could hurt him with that).

And yet she hasn't so much as threatened.

The fire needs a little helping along, but before too long the area is just dirt and ash. She starts scooping it up telekinetically, in big clots, and piling it up near the wagons, leaving a shallow and roughly rectangular hole. Daisy hauls water to fill one of the large barrels, while she's doing that, and when they're done, they mix some of the dirt, several gallons of water, and a bagfull of powder in another barrel. Daisy puts a lid on it, and Pradnakt lifts it into the air to shake it vigorously.
