"I actually go by Maedhros in most contexts, and am happy to use the Thindarin for my world's set, except we can't call Findekano Fingon, it's just such an ugly word. I shall convince him to accept a prettier one and then you'll have your way of distinguishing us."

"Okay, what I actually mean is 'your templates need generic nickname solutions, there are six Space Maitimos'."

"They go by Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, and Eight."

"And that's terrible!"

"I don't particularly see the problem, it's kind of funny. Makes Findekano splutter at me."

"What are the Space Findekános called, then?"

"Tinkakáno, parmakáno, calmakáno, and quessekáno."

"See, that's not an improvement, if me and Iobel and Cam had all had the same name somehow I would be Seidr and he'd be Revelation and she'd be Katydid, why are the people who are good at nicknames the ones who don't need them -"

"Want to give us nicknames?"

"It's harder for people who aren't me! And we don't know the Space Ones, let alone their distinguishing fork characteristics."

"Yeah, we do, I met them. They could be Cast, Decision, Current, Jewel, Leaf, and Robin, that'd be reasonable. If it's something you feel strongly about."

"I meant Bells do not know them. Those are much better than numbers!"

"Okay, fine, I'll go swing by the Findekános and come up with names for them too. Bells, hmm?"

"It means 'bell' in Cam's native language and seems to be our name overlap."

"Okay. I'll go name all the Findekános before you find me some more of them."

"Thank you. People should not go by numbers or letters it is just a mistake."

He comes back a minute later and announces that the Findekános should be named Delight, Shard, Blessing and Diamond.

"Lovely. Where are you getting these?"

"You seemed to care about it a lot, so I just came up with things. They're suited to the people, but very loosely - mostly to what my model of the person first notices as distinct from my model of my version - like, my first impression of Cam was that he was lonelier than you, didn't really believe that his most important achievements were ahead of him - but would sure as hell leap on a chance for them to be - and less raised in statescraft - otherwise very much identical to you - so the nickname'd just be something that called up those associations..."

"I don't understand how your aesthetic sense objects to 'Fingon' and not to 'Three', however charming the process that led them to index at three!"

"My name is Nelyafinwe. It was an unsubtle dig at my father's half-siblings and I only use it in formal contexts. However, having six of me running around as Nelyafinwe, Cantafinwe, Lempefinwe and so on turns it from an insult to them into a sort of running joke.

Also Findekáno's name needs to be a delight to say aloud, that's not a standard I hold names to in general."

"It's a very charming process, like I said, but I would not recommend your father's taste in names to someone who kept goldfish."

"Well, now you've got pretty ones, and I can straight-facedly call a Findekáno who cannot stand me 'Delight' and explain that it's your fault."

"Why is that one 'Delight'?"

"He happens to be in a role that brings out a lot of things I am fond of in my husband. Also he barely glared at me, which is lovely, considering - did Cam tell you what Decision did to them?"
