"Pity I'm mostly girls, I guess?"

"Our poor, poor alts.

I think if it weren't something we'd been living in terror of for most of our lives, if it wasn't something that feels so - fundamental - at this point, any Maitimo who isn't already taken would get the Valar to tweak him straight for a girl you."

"That would be... weird for her, I think."

"Yeah. I don't know that it'd be wise of him. But we're stipulating a Maitimo who's not taken and without me he's not in fact very wise. He wouldn't tell her he'd done it, does that make it better or worse?"

"Worse!"

He shakes his head wearily. "It's astonishing how someone who's so good at people fails so spectacularly at them when he does. Though I'm being a bit unfair here, these are all hypotheticals."

"I'm sure a hypothetical Maitimo could spin this brilliantly, but he'd have to tell her, before doing it!" Sigh. "Aydanci's sexual orientation is the one that makes objective sense, the rest of us are very silly."

"Agreed!!! I am really pleased that marriage being straight turns out not to be a feature of the universe."

"Has someone actually checked that? In some Arda? How does Maedhros even claim to know it?"

"Apparently it was already known to a few people but kept quiet because it's something of an infohazard - there are men who sleep with men so they won't accidentally get married -"

"Ah, makes sense."

"We might be able to avoid explaining everything by just glaring people down, Maitimo's good at that. Everyone sort of believes the Feanorians are above the laws of physics anyway."

"...well, with magic involved..."

"It's entirely suitable! ...have you actually seen the Silmarils? With your brain turned on? Or had it explained to you how we killed him?"

"Aydanci explained back in Lórien. I haven't seen them."

You will probably be less excited than an Elf about how stunningly pretty they are, but should be suitably impressed that can be pulled off with shines. Our alts wanted to know if it's portable as a solution, which it sort of is, but it took two hundred thousand warservants so it'd be a pain. Or maybe not, if Cam can make them - though he probably couldn't wake them -

Well, unless they all need to be woken in some very short time frame...

Maybe we should have a couple million of them on an asteroid somewhere - asteroids! he sends the concept! - to be teleported to the scene of emergencies. Maybe they can have a few sets of detailed instructions, one for Enemies and one for people making terrible life decisions, so we can use them for both 'Melkor' and 'civil war someplace'.

That'd be interesting.

As far as I know our alts not only don't have servantmaking but also don't have anything strictly better. Even for the ones who can travel between stars, robots are hard and require a high tech base to maintain. There are lots of niches for us, beyond Enemy-killing.

Cool.

That'll be fun for Lári and Aydanci.

Oh, I was thinking bigger than that - if everyone in your world's willing to spend a few minutes at the start of their day poking golem noses - or metaphorical noses - they can be one of the richest civilizations in the galaxy. We should also have enough data now to know whether the baby drop rate scales with the existing population, and accordingly whether making them all immortal is going to require a plan to evacuate people off-planet.

I know you're not going to wake servants for us.

Oh, yeah, the trade boost will be nice. It'll require some economic rejiggering since most people aren't servantmakers even there...

It should help that they don't need to learn the programming, we can have things walk off the assembly line for them. We'll work with our counterparts in Vanda Nosseo to figure out what'll be most valuable, Edda's apparently the dimension that still has the most wrong with it just by virtue of being so big.
