They're all arrested. Alex winds his way through the debris to check on the girls. "Hey! Faith, I think you're gonna have to be our lead person in checking out the frats and bars and clubs of Sunnydale for more nonsense like this, Karen does not seem to be a fan."

"Totally! At least next time I'll be expecting the whole demon cult possibility. - How'd you guys know to come?"

"Karen overheard something. I don't mean to be stalking you girls around while you live your lives, but Sunnydale's ridiculous enough it's usually worth having backup within earshot. Or the telepathy equivalent."

"Hey, glad it worked out tonight. Though I guess Karen's still gonna be all slay and no play after this."

"Maybe you can scout out all the frat houses and find some that are very definitely not evil."

"I'll let you know how it pans out."

And they limp home. He gives the mummy girl a blow-by-blow of the whole ordeal.

I suppose this probably counts as something blowing up, so... training tomorrow, or starting again Monday?

Monday. Lets us all get some rest for whatever the fuck tomorrow brings.

All right. See you Monday.

Nothing blows up over the weekend. Karen does homework and reads a whole issue of Asimov's Science Fiction and goes to mass and plays video games with her nephew.

"Since vampires recover faster on human blood do you think I should get some sent from the bank to Drusilla?"

"No. Why would you do that?"

"Dunno. I feel bad for her. Killing people's much easier on the mind, you know, you don't have to keep tracking how they're doing in prison afterwards."

"It's not like -"

"I know."

"If I were them there aren't gestures I'd take as friendly and personal attention would be terrifying."

"Yeah, okay."

No one goes missing in Sunnydale all weekend.

On Monday after school he meets Karen and Faith for training.

Ohh, right, Faith. It is good and sensible that Faith should meet them for training, because training is actually, like, important, and Faith is a slayer now and therefore will benefit from slayer training and needs to be the sort of person who they can depend on to be able to handle herself.

She leaves her list of weird stuff she wanted to talk about going over in her backpack.

"All right, what are we starting with?"

"You two have been in a lot more melee lately than I'm comfortable with, so I want to focus on that for the next while. I'd also like to figure out our best options for weapons you can carry full-time, so you're not going into anything unarmed even if you're at a frat party, but that might have to wait on looking at our magic options, so let's do unarmed for now."

"Sounds good, teach."

Karen is very serious about getting better at hand-to-hand combat.

When they're done she gets out her list.

"So I was thinking maybe I should go over magic options with Wishbone for the next while, see which things look licit and useful and not too terribly dangerous, and then I can report back in a few days and see what we've found? I figure Wishbone probably already knows a lot on this front."

"Yes, I think that's a good idea."

"Cool. I'll get back to you. I already asked Wishbone if he knew anything about a curse to return people's spirits, but he said not off the top of his head. - we might wanna stop by Father Michael's and pick up some spellbooks to go over at home, too, if that's OK."

"We should have the conversation with your sister about you moving in with us, but in the meantime, yeah."
