"You would know if the people you healed at the hospital were my fault. Right?"

"I am really quite sure none of them were your fault."

"I... They begged me to stop. And I didn't. And... there's so much.... just... each of them... for days."

"The demon's lying to you. That's what it does."

Cling.

Cling cling cling. Why is it still there! Why can't once be enough for this horrible thing!

"I just-"

The demon interrupts its victim with a new recollection.

Annie squeezes her as hard as she can. It's not going to hurt her and maybe she can feel the reassurance and the love at all through it at all.

After several minutes, Lucette's muscles tense and her breathing gets heavier.

"Lucette?"

Lucette's eyes flutter open.

"I'm here, I'm here," Annie whispers. "I love you."

"Is it over?"

"The demon's still here, I'm so sorry."

Lucette does her very best to cry silently.

Annie can't tell either way. Crying's not words.

The demon leafs through the book calmly.

"Please make it stop."

"I - I don't even know if it would work to send it to another world or what would happen -"

"...I don't want that." Lucette decides.

Oh good. Annie pets her.

Lucette eventually relaxes marginally, pressing against Annie as she does so.

And then the demon finds its place in the book and reads from it once more.

In the last vision Lucette does ask Annie to send the demon somewhere else. And it works and she's happy and a world suffers eternally because of her weakness.
