The raggedy-looking guy notices a fox interceding on his behalf and...

Winks at her, then calms right the heck down and obsequiously declines the duel, offering backhanded compliments to the rich kid, who is apparently of the Red Phoenix line of sorcerers.

Oh, he could never stand up to such bright flares of power. They would drown out everything else with fury and noise.

If anything, loud rich bird seems... Slightly confused and deciding whether to be offended or satisfied?

And then the police manage to push through the crowd- One of them eying her perch on the stall roofs- And finish de-escalating things, and Chan of Red Phoenix decides on smugly claiming victory and assuring the officers that all is well.

Oh thank goodness.  She tilts her head a little bit quizzically and then nods firmly.

Orange Feathers gathers himself for a moment and then disappears into a nearby florist, blending in with the bright blooms. The Young Master and his goons are very lightly chastised for blocking a busy street and let off with a slap on the wrist; They fly off again.

Megi is still at street level as the thick knot of a crowd begins dispersing.

Right.  Back to Megi, now.

"...I can't believe that worked."

"I didn't see anything other than you yipping but not everyone is a fighty idiot. Sometimes it just takes a little nudge. All's well that ends well, and all."

-One of the bystanders says, "Excuse me! Priestess."

Megi nods at the woman. "Yes?"

"I'm Maira- May I ask for a blessing of luck from Tamamo?"

"Heh, whether that's wise or not depends on what you seek blessings for~"

"I'm putting the finishing touches on my Masterwork. Porcelain sculpture, I've spent weeks on it. It goes in the kiln this evening. I've made my observances to Alteri, but whether or not pottery comes out of the kiln well sometimes runs down to luck..."

Megi scritches Alicia and hums in thought. "Alright~ Ahem. The flip of a coin and the roll of a die, laugh and cry, hope and strive, offer up your madness and passion. May Tamamo's gaze be upon you, and may she find your plea amusing. Offer to Tamamo your sleep tonight- Do not rest your head until the dawn light. Do not linger about the kiln unnecessarily. Forget your work and run in the darkness. Eat, drink, and be merry. Find friends, old or new. Then greet Ragni with his rising! For weal or woe, you are alive! ...Oh, and one more thing. Very important. Eat this."

Megi passes her... A leaf. It looks entirely ordinary.

Maira looks at it doubtfully, then seems to swell up, and sticks it in her mouth. She chews, trying not to make a face.

Megi nods solemnly.

Maira bows, smiles, and turns away, calling 'thank you!' as she does.

...And then Megi giggles once she's out of sight. "So! Enough side-tracks for now?"

"Yes, rather.  Your impromptu poetry is quite skillful."

"Artful words are expected of a priestess." But she's smiling.

On to the museum. They don't charge admission but they limit the number of people who can enter at once to control crowding, and are totally doing the paving tiles with names on them thing in addition to more prominent banners declaring 'sponsored by House Clearview' and so on.

There's a flight of stairs up from the main entrance, with many others coming right along with them, and then a wide balcony, from which you can see the grand orrery.

It's vast, a gleaming apparatus of silver thread, at the center a softly glowing orange-yellow ball (the sun is MUCH brighter than that, obviously, and larger in comparison to the planets, it's vast, vast, and she knows just how vast-) Orbited by glimmering jewel-like representations of the other planets: Emisstatus, a brazen jasper orb with thin white clouds. Tirra itself, a sapphire-emerald beauty. Noblius, a cloudy white sphere streaked in thick vapor clouds. The Giant, almost as large as the glowing sun in this representation, bearing glittering encrusted-glassrings and a crowd of lesser kin connected by a dizzying set of chains and bars that are thin enough to be squinted around. And finally, floating away in the huge open space, three blue and white sapphires to represent Kalimar (methane-blue due to its atmosphere), Wretch (criss-crossed with off color scars and fracture lines), and Glisten (smooth, shiny, streaked with silver).

The grand orrery commands all attention; Other features of the museum do not really register until one has beheld it for a while.

"Oh that's interesting.  I now have a visceral sense-impression of one solar mass."

"It's awe-inspiring, isn't it?"

There's more detail in the Sudden Knowledge if she looks. Many things just seem - obvious, looking at it.

Like how Fgravity = (Gm1m2)/r², perchance?  She doesn't remember what G (as distinct from small-g g, Earth's gravity) is...

Oh, what is local planetary gravity, anyway...  She hasn't felt like it's all that different, but she is also a fox.

...She wonders if she can get this thing to cough up at least special relativity if she pokes it the right way.

She doesn't know the local planetary gravity, though she knows the steps to calculate it given estimations of the sun and Tirra's mass and the length of a year.

Cool, good.

"It's impressive.  And it really does know orbital mechanics."

"And so do I! For a little while after looking at it. But then, I do not deeply care about orbital mechanics, and who knows how much that affects it?"

"I wonder, now that you've mentioned it.  I guess we'll see how much it sticks for me.  But that's the nature of brains and skills and memory for you, anyway.  Use them or lose them.  At least, if you're a biological creature - I've got nothing on how being a kitsune works, comparatively speaking.  Though I suspect it's much the same.  ...I suppose there's also people with eidetic memories, but that's not really the relevant thing."

They can go through the rest of the museum whenever Alicia is ready- And they can always come back to this viewing platform. There's a good bit of history, and a good bit of obvious we-are-great propaganda fluff, and a small to moderate amount of science. There's no separate 'magic' section to most of it; Who would think to separate it out like that?

As Megi said, her favorite part is watching the glassblowers work in a little annex building on the far side of the place. Four people working two furnaces, putting on a show and explaining to the audience how it works. They actually sell what they make, if at a significant markup.

Why would they, indeed.

She remembers watching a How It's Made about people making decorative sinks and sink accessories.  (From glass, obviously, that's why it came up now.)

...She can't help but wonder, seeing all of this, how the fuck industrial glassware was done.  Or, specifically, now that she's thinking about industrial glassware, Pyrex.

...Something about boron, maybe, not that she can do anything about that without at least a periodic table because it's not like she even remembers what boron is besides obviously it being a chemical element.  She's damn near sure 'borosilicate' came up somewhere around lab glassware.

Anyway.  She can't do anything with that information.

They putter around the museum for a while.

(-Alicia sees a rabbit eared girl, who was in the crowd around the Young Master Confrontation earlier, walking quickly around, looking between a scroll and street signs, near the museum exit.)

"I think it's about time to find an inn. Somewhere other than the most expensive part of the city."

"Yeah."

She seems rather distracted by the other girl as she says that, though.

...Hmm.  Does she think she could track Megi down by scent?

Kitsunes can smell other kitsunes pretty clearly. That seems quite plausible.

"...I'm gonna go meddle with something while you do that, I think.  Whereabouts are you headed?"

Megi grins. "Ooh, go get your meddle on~ I'm going to around West Three I think? It's close to lots of things and mostly lower middle class. And I have a few booty calls in the area I can do."

Sure.  She'll just.

...Well, if all else fails, she'll do a grid search or something.

But that girl looks like something is Up with her, and she wants to figure out what.

The first step is obviously to get close enough to figure out what's even going on, though, so through and around and possibly over the crowds she twines.

The rabbit-eared girl seems to be casting a spell every few hundred feet, drawing her finger over the pattern in the book and muttering as she goes. Every time, she then shakes her head in disappointment and moves on.

"Where did he go..."

"Where'd who go?", she yips as she tries to get to Obviously Talking To You level.
