"Lots of things. Does a god want you? Does someone in good with a god want you? Are you going quietly or fleeing for the hills? Did a reaper come tag you 'hey come get this one' any point in this process? Where'd you die? How'd you die? Where would you fit right in? The Hespatians headquarter in Hell, so there's that."

"Y'know what, screw it. Let's go for it."

"Eight points!" Boop. "One that makes you rub everybody the wrong way somehow? Will not offput people once they get to know you, but harder to convince them of this being worthwhile."

"Pass. I'm off-putting enough already."

"Have monsters be after you? You can go places that are less monstery and still take this but some very nice places are monstery."

"Hmmm. How many points?"

"For an academic six!"

"And monsters are like, not all normally hostile? Because the terminology kind of suggests they would be."

"Oh, they are, but sometimes they are asleep, or after somebody else, or do not happen to be in some place, and this will be less often with you if you take this."

"Hmm. Despite giving fewer points, this one seems a lot worse than Hunted, because it would be significantly harder and also probably an ecological disaster to wipe out all monsters everywhere as opposed to one singular human."

"Hunter will follow you wherever, monsters only rile up where they exist. It would be very bad if you wanted to live where I live, I do not have this one and still have to fight monsters to go for a walk sometimes. But it would not be too bad in one of the colleges or Lunabella or even a normal Earth city."

"Where do you live?"

"Feywilds! Girlfriend is from a Summer Court family and we have a lake in their patch."

"What's it like there?"

"It is the most beautiful of places. I have photo prints you can browse in this shop should you like, in among the maps. But every now and then a carnivorous unicorn or a three headed bear wants a piece of me."

Katie goes and looks for the photo prints.

There's a big rack of them, in among presumably-not-actually-fantasy maps and various portraits of pretty (by conventional slightly-monsterfuckery standards) witches. Stunning landscapes where every tree and flower would win a Prettiest Tree Or Flower Contest in a normal Earth biome. Sculptural waterfalls, cloudscapes with the light playing off them so beautifully it looks like they're getting off on it.

"Okay yeah I'm definitely not taking monster magnet. Also, on the subject of monsters vs hunters, once I Awaken, I'm still like, legally a person, right? Like, if I'm in a regular human city and someone murders me, the government will still at least try to catch and prosecute them, right?"

"The regular earth governments will not know you awaken and in fact you must try pretty hard to make sure they never suspect, so, yes, they will investigate should you turn up missing where you were expected and you can choose to go on being expected, but they will have basically no luck with anyone who hunts witches. The witchy law enforcement already knows witch hunters suck and is already trying to get them and is already not doing that so hot and you dying of it will not change this in any directions."

"I guess that's another advantage of being a Neutral, then, that I'm still able to exist in mortal society without breaking the masquerade."

"Oh, most witches can do this, there is a complication making it harder but if I go do my shopping with my ears out people look right past them or at most wish me a good LARP. You just have to not rustle the Veil too hard and it will cover you. But yes in your case the rustlings would be in the spellcasting and not in the ears-having."

"I see. Anyways, so what were my other complication options?"

"Weird luck one! More dicey situations but you get an edge getting out of it again, not much increased mortality risk but makes your life an interesting time."

"Hmmmmm. This one seems very dependent on specifics but also like I kind of have it already, only with very little capacity to get out of the situations on account of no magic. How many points?"

"Four. You are already getting into, what, car chases and hostage situations and fire alarms?"
