“I can work with 30. I doubt I’d be able to handle any world that needs the 40 token options.”

She can do this, this is gamer brain time. Time to optimise builds. Find exploits. Channel the spirit of stupid mechanics shenanigans posts on r/dnd. Become the peasant railgun mindset.

*Authors note: the peasant railgun was a post that proposes an exploit in the rules of dungeons and dragons, passing an object to someone else is a free action and takes up no real time. So a group of peasants could accelerate an object to speed by passing it down a line of dozens of people.

Browse browse browse…. Ohhhh this feels VERY exploitable.

”So vault of Heroes lets me take any item out of the armory that would normally cost me under 20 tokens for ten minutes a day? No hidden restrictions? No reversing of its effects after it’s gone?” This is real life, not a game, but she would expect some kind of nerf to something like this in a game so she is paranoid and checking first.

"You get one ten-minute period a day where you can summon a total of items that sums to under twenty tokens. Yes, that's everything in the armoury under twenty tokens, even including personal effects like skill uploads and so on. It's basically supreme versatility in exchange for reduced power or limited duration of items. I am frankly so glad you spotted it, we got an excellent deal on that one and we're not allowed to point it out to candidates deliberately."

“Wait… anything? Even powers? I thought it was just being able to summon the items and thought that was already overpowered. If I can do stuff like skill uploads and brain boosts or get 20 points worth of magic powers ten minutes a day that is insane.” Andrea scrolls through what would be cheap and useful to have during all the other minutes of the day.

”I’m taking all the feebies, Functional Magic for utility. R2d2 for tech. And a new identity. And uhhhhh…. A new body to go with it… since it’s free…” She could finally be be a real girl have a body that matches what she wants.

She wont cry in front of this very pretty person, she wont.

She smiles slightly. "Yeah. Alright then, that seems sensible. I don't want to get between you and your new body any longer than necessary; shall I send you over to our medical wing?"

“Yes please…” She hopes it isn’t painful. But she will endure an awful lot of pain to no longer be trapped in…. This. This horrible ill fitting thing ruined by male puberty. No matter how many times friends tell her she looks good, the flaws feel so obvious to her.

“Do I get a new one every mission? Or can I change to another body post mission? Or is what I pick what I’m stuck with forever?” Because then she has to decide between short term physical advantage in the X-COM world, and what she would want to look like permanently. Because the two conflict. For X-com it would be better to be big and buff, but that’s not who she’d rather look like permanently.
