It’s a point of view of a hexagonal room made largely of smooth, golden sandstone, with large windows overlooking a number of levels of library.

For anyone who was familiar with Bentham’s original panopticon design, there’s a definite similarity, but with “prison cells” replaced with “library stacks.” Otherwise, it mostly looks cheery and welcoming.

"...I'm actually a lot less apprehensive about the prospect knowing that it won't look like..." She gestures at the metal walls, the grilles and drains.

“That makes sense. I wanted to just show people in person but Nia was concerned it would feel like induction.”

“It really doesn’t seem like it should but I haven’t tried moving anything across that would be able to tell me if I was wrong. She suggested before breakfast tomorrow as a good time to test it.”

"I wonder if there's any good way to get maleficer kids to turn in their rats no questions asked so you can experiment on 'em. ...do rats even vomit, I know some animals don't."

"They don't ingest so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no."

“You said something about them picking at each other’s shells so I wasn’t sure.”

"They take stuff, but they just attach it to their carapaces."

“Oh, I see. Ooh, I bet you could set them up like decorator crabs.”

"You can, they're basically magical decorator crabs."

“That’s so cute. I’m going to put a tank of them in my pocket dimension central chamber.”

“Is induction just nauseating, or is it nauseating along with other stuff that something that didn’t throw up could experience anyway?”

"It also steals all the mana you have on you."

“Well, I can be confident putting things in my pocket dimension doesn’t do that.” She disappears and reappears the same Radiant Mind crystal in her hand a few times; it stays full of mana the whole time.

"I expect you'll get takers for trying it first thing in the morning."

Ennis comes back. "Polaroid cameras," he says. "If you please? And mirrors."

“Oh! Sure!” Polaroid cameras and mirrors go in the piles. “Would tape recorders also be helpful, if it’s Polaroids specifically?”

"Maybe, why not."
