He barks out a short laugh. "My affinity's sound, I have a good spell to read things aloud to me and if I do pushups and stuff while it's doing it, that about pays for it. Or I'd be dead by now."

"Ah. Has your spell read my powers pamphlet to you." 

"No, my hallmate had a copy and did a dramatic reading, but I've heard it."

Oh man now she really wants to hear what a dramatic reading of her powers list sounds like. "So before I go further with this I want to really really emphasize the part of Dragon Fairy Elf Witch that filters out any downsides." 

"Oh boy. Okay."

"I've used Dragon Fairy Elf Witch on every mal I've killed and some of them gave me sensory boosts."

"And they don't make you... thirst for blood or imitate the voices of people's friends outside their doors at night or anything. Because of the filter."

"Right." And the second thing wouldn't happen anyway because she's Beholding not Stranger not how it works, she got Hunt traits from Orion.

"And you can copy some of them to me? And then maybe I wouldn't be able to read so hot but I'd at least be able to hear whatever I couldn't see, or something?"

"Maybe, but some of them have better-than-human vision, so you might be able to read just fine. Maybe kinda weirdly, I don't know. ...Also, there are significantly fewer mals in here than out there, if we can't fix your problem you can move in if you want to."

"...and just not go to class?"

"It's an offer, not a demand. But I don't think your homework can get you in here, and my understanding of your chances of survival with your eyes damaged--wasn't informed by the sound affinity, admittedly."

"And just... not have to finish school, and... are you going to graduate out?"

"Eventually! But I also hope to fix the graduation hall, so you could also just leave right before graduation."

"The gates don't work most of the time, if they did there'd be way more mals."

"I mean, leave my pocket dimension, to go into the graduation hall with everyone else, which is safe because I killed everything, if I manage that."

"Oh. ...a mal didn't do this to me. I just screwed up my potion."

"My understanding is that the reason it's not safe to have done it is some combination of mals and attack homework."

"I could fall down the stairs or something, being nearly blind is not great even without those, but - yeah."

"In," real life, "the mundane world, fully blind people navigate stairs all the time. So you're willing to try the More Magic approach?"

"It is so tempting to move in here and never, ever be in the Scholomance again. But you'd have to tell people where I went. And it'd be pretty tempting to them, too."

"I am offering it to you because of the blindness thing. I am not actually offering it to everyone. Anyone can visit, but that's not the same thing."

"No, I mean - it would be tempting enough -"
