"Hello," Blai says to her.

"I am the answer, but what is the question?"

"Perhaps it's 'who are these strange people going around saying cryptic things'."

"I am nothing, now and forever."

"Hey, that's a new one!"

"If you looked and sounded like nothing then we would not be having this conversation, but you take actions that are seen and heard, and I should like to know why."

"The absence of an answer is an answer too."

"It's strange... most people would be scared of you here, but she hardly seems to be feeling anything at all."

"I do not specifically desire that she be scared, although it has crossed my mind that it might be a more cooperative mood."

She doesn't say anything to that.

"Ma'am, is there something you are hoping to accomplish?"

"I reject my past, my present, and my future."

"What is that supposed to mean."

"I have never met a Rovagug cultist but if I were to wildly guess what they might sound like I might land on this."

She doesn't visibly react to that in any way!

"Huh, I'd've guessed they'd sound like Deskarans."

"I have tended to find them less abstract and more with the devouring-related metaphor, but there are more cultists down here than up north because there's no substantive civilian population up north." Shrug. "Ma'am, you have not committed a crime, but so you're aware, it is neither lawful nor wise to wander into a military camp and be cryptic there. I would advise you to make sure your colleagues know this for future reference."

"The absence of an answer is an answer too."

"Should I let her go?"

Sigh. "Yes, I suppose so. Thank you for catching her."

He lets go of her wrists. She starts to walk off towards the southwest at a sedate place.

He's sort of tempted to ask if Thall's butterfly can follow her and see where she goes but the butterfly has pretty limited ability to report. Back to the main force with them.

They do not encounter any issues making it back to the main force.

The adventurers who were handling the bulettes report that they have successfully killed the bulettes and taken their teeth as a trophy. The unit that was dealing with the bandits reports that it was more challenging and dangerous than expected, as one of the (armored!) bandits turned out to be some kind of weird spellcaster; they did manage to capture the spellcaster alive, since it seemed like he could be quite valuable in the Condemned, but they're not sure how cooperative he'll be and the risks if he isn't are much higher.

In what way was his spellcasterness weird?

He... enchants liquids? Or something? When they fought him he was enchanting liquids to burn and then throwing the liquids at their unit. They could interrogate him about the details if they wake him up but right now he's unconscious.

(You'd really think a caster would have better things to do than become a bandit. The person giving the report thinks this is probably a bad sign about his likely cooperativeness but it's hard to say for sure.)
