Darn. She -

- suddenly feels horribly empty, apparently?

(...Luto misses Ridaya. It's the kind of prank they'd pull on each other - Rids would have either fallen for it or pretended to, Prestidigitating the flavor away.)

Zan sees it coming about a moment beforehand. Luto wouldn't want her to make a big deal out of it, but...

She hands Uma the uneaten half of her flatbread.

Oh! Yay. (Omnomnomnom.)

"Well, how are any of us going to know which is better if nobody tries both?", she says brightly, and crosses the room to take the remainder of the omelette from Luto.

(And, oops! She was standing behind Luto as she did that, and now she's holding her as she brings the omelette to her mouth. Tragic. Luto will have to endure being hugged.)

She chews thoughtfully.

"I think," she says ponderously, "that sweet, dear Luto may have been exaggerating. Slightly."

...pfft. (She leans into the hug.)

(Zan gives her a gentle little squeeze.)

"Though this would be pretty good with a slightly different ingredient balance, really... Mind if I help with the next one, Linzi?"

Oh no, Luto is sad because Linzi failed to make her bluff check!!! This is terrible and Linzi is personally responsible!!!!!!! Should she apply hugs??? She wishes to apply hugs - oh, Zan has that covered. Good, good, okay. Thank you, Zan.

"Of course you can! ... I think the next one will be better," she immediately starts insisting. "You're right, the ingredient ratio was wrong, but I think with a bit of a different blend of filling it'd do a lot better -"

"- Better is a far cry from good, you know."

"Funny, I remember someone, somewhere, said something about how 'experimentation is necessary for anyone to get anywhere good,'" muses Sivetrys, as she carefully measures out tea leaves. (The coffee has already been measured out; it's now waiting on the water to boil.)

It's so awkward when his own words are parroted back at him. Leave it to their sorceress to twist him into arguing with himself.

"... Yes, well, it's important to be realistic in one's estimations."

"Mmhmmm. But the results of experiments can always be surprising, or else they wouldn't be very experimental. Or fun."

Another quote.

"Yes, yes, you're very clever and pay attention to me when I say things, now shoo to managing beverages, explosion sorceress."

"Ah, is it better if we don't pay attention when you say things, then?"

(She smiles reassuringly at Linzi.)

Pffft!

"Of course not, ignore my wise counsel at your own peril and ignorance."

"Just if you could avoid remembering anything inconvenient to his latest argument, that would be great," snorts Linzi. "For him. It would be great for him."

"Yes, well, if the best counter to my arguments is my own, then that says something about how the rest of you are lacking, doesn't it."

"Or just that you like arguing, and will pick whichever side lets you do it."

"It is of paramount importance to keep one's greatest assets in good repair. Wit requires exercise, like any other skill."

Which is just a yes, really.

Oh, she likes them. She really likes them.

They seem to like her and her party, too, gnomish surliness notwithstanding!

Breakfast proceeds. The next omelette is more edible than the first, though they're still a little bit... weird...

But there is both coffee and tea available for everyone, presented with an announcement from Sivetrys that goes: "The hot leaf and bean water are both ready."
