Lily heads over to the two espers who just walked in.
"Hi! I'm, uh, Lilypad, nice to meet you," she mumbles.
Fists are not exactly happening for her at the moment but she can offer the back of a vaguely curled hand to tap against the redhead's, and also the boy's.
"Wendy! We're both new - and like, not much better than background with each other, so more options are good-" Fistbump. "-Oh, not bad."
Huh? "Oh, uh, I didn't get much of anything off of you, I can try again?"
(Still nothing.) "Yeah, I don't think we're compatible on my end, is that a thing?"
"Oh, too bad," Lily sighs. "Well, one way is better than the zero ways I've been getting so far, I guess."
She fishes out a homemade "business card" with her codename and codename-email for the other girl. "Here, if you want to stay in touch, I don't know whether it'll make sense to spend time guiding but it sounded like maybe, for you?"
Wendy takes the card.
"...Can you tell if you're getting nothing from me, or very little? I mean, uh, not to call too much attention to it but it looks like you could use some guiding."
"Yeah, I know, I'm working on not using my powers but it turns out to be pretty hard to never use them at all. At least for me."
"And, hard to tell, maybe a little guiding? I wasn't getting actively bounced off, at least."
"Oof. Oooof. ... I'm down to try a whole arm or whatever if you are, see if you can tell better with more contact? Wendy, by the way. I don't have business cards yet."
"Sure, let's try that," Lily nods. "Nice to meet you, Wendy."
"My mom made the cards, actually, she doesn't want me giving away my usual contact info to strangers? Especially with how famous espers can get. Which is sort of reasonable, but, also I only barely convinced her not to come in here with me."
"Ummm, no, I think you have just a bit of backlash left. This'll just take a bit."
Wendy pulls up the sleeve of her hoodie and goes to press her entire arm against Lilypad, nice and slow.
"I hadn't really thought about that. It does kinda seem like the internet goes insane troll logic over espers. Which kinda sucks."
And with the greater contact surface, "yeah! I am getting just a trickle off you. The arm was a good idea."
"No, no, you don't have to leave," Lily reassures the boy. "I, uh, still haven't caught your name. Actually."
Lily will (a little reluctantly) peel her arm off Wendy's. "And I should probably go shake hands with more espers," she says. "In case there's someone who's a better match for me out there."
"Yeah, legit, I'll uhhh text you or something later. If you ever need weak pathetic guiding over no guiding at all. Options are options."
