The drive to the camping trip is almost as beautiful as the trip itself is going to be. It's long and meandering, through hills and over rivers, along narrow roads where there's nowhere to pass for miles. By the time they make it to the trailhead, the sun is already threatening to set. By the time they're halfway to the first campsite, they've all turned on their headlamps.

Seven lights move through the dark.

They reach a river, the last obstacle before they can finally set up camp, and, just as the last person is stepping onto the bank, all of the lights go out.

There's a brief clamor as everyone speaks up at once. And then, as suddenly as they went off, all the lights return.

Eight headlamps now shine out, into the dark.

--Terisa might've screamed a little, not loudly, but a little, when they were plunged into darkness. (She's still not good at unexpected darkness.) She looks around wildly when the light returns, focusing on each face, trying to reassure herself that they're all still here. (That she's still here.)

Artur is looking around as well, but more steadily, reaching out to Terisa (he'd convinced her to come, he feels responsible).

"Everyone okay?" he calls out. "No-one tripped in the dark?"

"I'm fine!" Kristopher calls, spinning around to look at Artur and inadvertently shining his light straight into Artur's eyes. He quickly jerks it away, "Oops sorry!"

"We're fine," Ted says, "That was really weird."

"Yeah, why'd they all die at once?" she says this more to Ted than to the rest of them.

"I'm good. Elena? Fever?"

"We should have kept the lights off longer. We didn't even get to see the stars."

Christopher shoots her a baffled look.

"Elena?" Duy repeats.

"I- I'm fine," she says, sounding a little dazed, "What happened?"

"Not sure," Duy says, "Never had so many lights die at once. Maybe the moisture?"

"Pretty sure these things are supposed to be good against that? They should, at least, be splash proof, and I don't think any of us, never mind all of us took a dip?"

"You're right," Duy says, "It doesn't really make sense. Well, a mystery for after we're all warm and dry. We're almost at the campsite now, let's get moving."

"Right," Elena says and moves to the front of the group, highlighting the path with her light to make it easy for everyone else to find it again.
