She needs to focus, here, and kill Luke Skywalker this is not the time.

She doesn't have to care about whoever this other Inquisition are, or anything like that. She's trying to get away from the Imperials, kill Luke Skywalker and dig Karrde out of the mess he's got himself into again, without dying in the process.

She's losing her touch, has been since that day the Empire ended. Sure, she has to keep quiet and keep the 'Nestmates of Swift Mercy' from finding out about her because unlike Skywalker she doesn't collect enemies like fucking trading cards, but she can still find out more.

"I meant what were your 'crimes', penitent."

"As far as the people with actual jurisdiction over magic are concerned nothing. In terms of what the human authorities would say if they knew, torture, murder, and enabling white collar crimes that destroyed a planet's economy so thoroughly that just the directly attributable suicides are in the thousands. And a bunch of petty enabling stuff, oh wow it was a crime to steal that guy's clothes as disguise after I killed him sort of things.

Oh and framing people, and taking bribes when I was infiltrating their police force though really I was less corrupt than half the force.

Piracy, both kinds though I really was only enabling the serious one.

Would have gotten away with it all if it wasn't for my own conscience, and the cunt who made me Evil guilt tripping me after I reformed her.

Hell of a way to repay the favor."

Get it hell, because...

nah still depressed.

Actually, Chuk probably gets to live and Luke might even Skywalker the Inquisition, back to happy.

Well, she's officially outnumbered by the kind of people who elevate sentimentality to an art form, but at least she's the one with the blaster.

"Is anyone likely to come after you here? And do you happen to know any way off this planet?"

He nods approvingly. It's bad but it's not Darth Vader bad. "It was a good way to repay the favour."

"I expect retrieval if and only if I miss my teleport window which is either 258 or 18 days from now depending on which direction we went.

That is also my answer to way off this planet, but I may be able to remember more depending on how well the place matches the legends and when we are in the timeline.

How often has the Emperor came back from the dead, are you two married yet wait I'm stupid how long since the battle of Yavin?"

She was right, something is very wrong here. It's not an unfamiliar feeling. She's been trained to resist the kind of thing the Dark Side can do to your head. She can't notice any signs, which means either this is real, or it's him and the last few years have all been a test and she'll have to go back, but either way she needs to dig into the cracks in the dream until it breaks.

"Tell me how you think you know these things. It's been about nine years, and the Emperor is never coming back. Which is why I'm doing this. I don't know where you got the marriage thing from but I want him dead."

"I don't know, I think I'm growing on her."

"In terms of romantic advice, I got married to my high school crush though what my wife thought was a temporary paperwork thing she didn't realize I was serious about until we'd gone on an adventure and literally shared a bed with each other. Which worked out, but is a good strategy? Well-"

"Getting each other to join the family on pretense then making it real is tradition in our family."

Our?

Our, and not just so I can choose the tombstone she wanted.

"Crisse, c'est ça qui est ça, ma fille.

So is random French, your maman will get you up to speed on it."

"Anyway the girl who used to go around looking like Palps had the ability to give other people mystical dreams. There was a big movie series, and some followup books and stuff. I don't know how much was real to begin with and how much was fiction or how much we have already thrown things off.

I think I have most of them saved somewhere in my archives as things I could rewatch in real time, but don't remember remember much beyond the big moments.

Trench run, no I am your Father, fear fear of this battle station will keep the systems in line.

That sort of thing.

I can try to get a librarian running to search the archives, but I'm still a bit new to tulpacrafting."

This kind of recursive nightmare wasn't really the Emperor's style, or his sense of humour, as far as she ever saw. But the alternative is not much less horrifying to contemplate.

Either way, it's probably important to get this right.

"Supposing I believe you. What are you intending to do?"

"Immediate term, get off this rock with Chuk Tan alive and find treatment for some of our chronic issues. Like try to get her some new fingers.

Medium term, sort through my archives for anything helpful to the galaxy as a whole and download anything worth taking back home. Maybe a bit of sightseeing, but honestly I'm worried about getting caught up in random BS if we try."

"Right. The Imperials are going to be all over us and we need to get a message to Karrde to try to come up with something to tell them or he's going to end up in interrogation. Anything you can do to help? Since we're all being so friendly."

"Luke, is there anyone it would be unambiguously ok to kill, or any plan that starts from me being inside Karrde's cell with an axe performing a fake execution on him.

I have weirdly specific powers.

Also will you promise as a Jedi Master and pod racing fan to return Chuk Tan to me intact. Well not any less intact.

Also, also, when your Uncle said the one human to win the Boonta Eve Classic was from an incredibly distant branch of the family that was a lie, it was your dad."

"There's never anybody it's unambiguously OK to kill. Just sometimes people you have to kill anyway. But if you're suggesting you can save other people that way... what 'specific powers' exactly?"

He knew it. He should have started trusting his instincts long ago, like age six.

"I so swear. We can replace her fingers, too."

"Ignore him, he's an idiot. Tarfin Quorr, extremely dangerous serial killer wanted dead or alive in every sane system, escaped Imperial justice after murdering a Senator and the Jedi over here would hand you the blaster if he'd seen what was left of them. How long is this going to take?"

"How close are we? And I get what you mean Master Skywalker, but what is probably about to happen is that I'm going to kill someone because a guy who was the basis for the fictionalized legends of one of my childhood heroes says to, probably in front of my daughter so please be very very sure about it.

So I'm what is called a greater Mythos, one aspect of that, that I am greatly simplifying because we don't have time for a semester long class, is that if I have done something before and had stories told about it I can start doing it in increasingly bizarre circumstances.

It is known that theoretically secure facilities that do not take deliveries will let me through if I am there to deliver a pizza to someone I am going to chop to pizza with my axe and serve to the next victim."

It's not hypocrisy it's professional rivalry. Or something.
