It isn't super clear on why its interlocutor can't move without using a spell, but it can't move because it doesn't want to expose them to radiation from its fusion torch, so they are both sort of stuck in these relative positions.
They also did not ask about the design of the pressure chamber; probably they are worried about sourcing the input materials for the process before considering the mechanism, which is reasonable.
It doesn't have a real idea of how, exactly, its words are getting understood, when it is speaking its creator's language. Presumably due to a spell. That spell is at least somewhat faulty, but assuming that it translated 'walnut' correctly, it should not be difficult to source carbon.
