Ew.

She starts to ask another question, then remembers that the alien is apparently telepathic.

"Can you - send - us a summary of everything we need to know to deal with these Yeerks? Including, what's a Hork-Bajir?"

<I can.>

...he doesn't seem to do anything but die slowly from his wounds.

Liam wonders why Scott's taking so long. He moves around until he can see a little way inside the ship, through the door.

At the same time, he asks, "How do we do that? Do we need to come closer or something? Or is it waiting on - whatever Scott's doing?"

He looks across at Allison.

"...are you okay?"

There's not much to see. It's a small ship. Scott returns, carrying a blue box, which he brings to the alien.

<This is a weapon. With this, you stand a chance against the Yeerks. This will grant you the power to morph.>

She watches the sky.

"I'm fine, he was just- sharing things with me, like he said he would."

Rowan doesn't have very much time to be disappointed that she didn't get the infodump as well, because she is pretty sure she heard something about 'power'. As in sci-fi-aesthetic magic powers, most likely. Or superpowers, she supposes.

"What's morph?" she asks, stepping closer to inspect the blue box.

And, actually, "Why didn't all of us get the information? Why just Allison?"

<It is complicated. I share a special connection with her. One day, you all may understand. The power to morph is the power to take the shape of any animal. We must hurry.>

He holds the box in his hands.

<You must touch the box. Remember to never stay in morph for more than two of your hours. Allison will explain the rest.>

He touches the box.

So do Rowan and, after a brief hesitation, Liam.

Allison doesn't hesitate, and neither does Callie.

"What's the catch?"

<This is all I can offer. It is your choice.>

He touches it.

Liam looks at Scott, who's the only one left undecided.

"Scott? Is something wrong?"

"No."

He watches the sky and touches the box, too.

The others have already started running.

Why are they running away? This might be their last ever chance to talk to the alien.

"Is there anything else you can give us? Anything we can do for you?"

Suddenly, she realises - "You never told us your name. Or what your species is called."

<Andalites,> he says, as two red lights appear in the sky.

<They are here! Run!>

Liam grabs his sister's hand again and starts pulling her away.

"Come on, you can pester Allison later we need to go - "

She follows, reluctantly.

As does Scott.

Allison kneels down next to the Andalite as the ship comes closer, and with a brief kiss to his forehead, she runs as well.

Looking around, Liam spots another crumbling wall they can hide behind, far enough away from the Andalite ship that they shouldn't be noticed, but close enough to see what happens.

He pulls Rowan towards it, and they duck out of sight just in time.

Spotlight-like beams of red light illuminate the area around the fallen ship.

The enemy craft begins to descend. This ship is larger and more menacing than the first, with wings shaped like the blade of an axe.
