It looks to be mostly a pack of advertisements and coupons! The system has to translate most of them.

HAWAIIAN FIRE RESTAURAUNT - Right under the pink bridge. 50% off first time customers! 4.9 stars!

Dragon Rabbit - You need things. I fetch you things. Personal shopper.

Friendly Gym - low key chill exercise space for low rankers.

Lucky Cat Game Parlor - Low Antes, Free Appetizers, Daily Raffle

And so on. Though there are two things addressed to her - A packet of ID papers and other official documents, and a paper Wright Dorm Schedule calendar listing tons of intake events over the next few weeks.

Honestly the spam is kind of comfortingly familiar, even if the details are different.

She takes it all into her room and lays it out on her desk.

Maybe we should go to that Lucky Cat place, huh?

Absolutely not. Especially after you spent three hundred dollars from our summer job on that shitty gatcha game. No gambling.

I'm just yanking your chain. You know I regret that just as much as you do.

More seriously the restaurant might be worth trying, though I suspect any place that needs to advertise with flyers.

It seems pretty clear that things are pretty stratified by rank here. A gym advertising as "for low rankers?" Is that even for us as a B rank?

Fortunately the land of having a personal shopper is much beyond us, at least for now. Rabbits serving rabbits, how many layers down does it go?

She takes the ID and... They didn't have their wallet on them. And thus they still don't.

First things first, buy a new wallet. And some groceries. Generally do a shopping trip.

She spreads out the events timetable in her hands and has a look at the next few days.

Anesidoran Civics and Governance, Intro to Welding, Famous Landmarks Tour, Navigating the Subway, Third Floor Open Social, Shopping and Cooking on the Island, Board Game Night, Carpentry Open, The Wright Stuff (How To Shop For Supplies), Glassworking Demo, Build-A-Bot!, Picking The Right School.......

The crafting ones don't super match to her aesthetic, but a lot of this looks interesting nonetheless. She could definitely use help on how to take the subway and shop for groceries and supplies. And the game night sounds fun.

She finishes off her pizza and drink, trashes the flyers, and...

Food stamps. We should see about those. We'll want to save as much of that resettlement fund as possible for permanent expenses or towards our teleport rent.

Wasn't there something that she saw earlier...

Using certain forms of government assistance can make you an Avowed? It said?

System, I understand that there are certain ways humans on this earth become Avowed, such as accepting advanced medical care or certain social programs. Is it possible for me to accidentally become Avowed by use of a social program or similar, or am I simply not subject to the treaty, not being a native resident of this Earth?

You are a special circumstance under the Exceptional Circumstances clause in the Commonwealth subsection of the relevant treaty.

You will not be asked to fill out the acceptance form which subjects humans to potential selection as Avowed in order to receive certain benefits, as the 600 argold per month fee covers these services, including medical, education, maintenance and governance of Anesidora, and more.

It what?

The penny drops.

The 600 Argold per month fee is effectively her taxes

She is getting a much better deal than she expected.

Okay, so she should absolutely apply for food stamps. She guesses she'll go talk to Juniper about that now.

She puts her documents in the desk drawer of her desk, and puts her resettlemebt card carefully in her fleece's pocket and zips it closed. It's not ideal but it'll do for right now.

Time to head back to Juniper's office and ask after the local stores.

She lets herself back out into the common area and heads for the elevators.

The common area contains Mai from the debate earlier, playing on a portable game console. She waves lazily. It also contains an unfamiliar woman who looks slightly despairing, staring over a math textbook and a sheet of near-scribbles.

Huh, someone having trouble with math...

Let's not borrow trouble for now, dear.

Alright.

She'll take the elevator down and stop by Juniper's office.

It contains a Juniper who's talking with a redhead, visible through the little window! Somehow absolutely no sound is coming out of her office.

Though Juniper doesn't react to her presence beyond a glance, she receives a message:

Hello again, Bluebell. I can chat in about five minutes- If this is an emergency you can contact Doris Fenn, the other intake guide for our section. You should have her info from the intro docs.

Not an emergency, I can wait. And maybe do some searches that'll solve my questions.

She leans against the wall outside the office and searches for local stores that sell groceries, purses and wallets.

Any information about how to apply for Anesidora food stamps online either?

There are lots of those stores!

It boils down to 'just ask the System, and if you're a student and/or don't have a job a whole bunch of bland-ish cafeterias and some of the more boring items in grocery stores get marked as free in your system view'. None of the nice restaurants, though.

Annoying but serviceable. Once she has a job she expects that'll drop out but it'll probably let her at least pick up a loaf of bread or two.

She sends to the system again.

I'd like to be placed on food stamps, at least until I've got an actual job.

Please plot a route for me from Intake to a local grocery store and a local store that sells purses and wallets, optimized for least total distance walked.

The food assistance program is now enabled. As a new non-Anesidoran native Avowed, participation in the program will remain open with no restrictions for at least 6 months.

A floating arrow indicator like something put of a video game pops up, with steps and a minimap in a corner of her vision. She should go out the building entrance and right.

Interface options can be customized. Let me know if you want to learn more.

Well then, off she goes.

She drops a mesage for Juniper on her way out.

Did some searches that answered my questions; just going to go pick up some essentials.
