Plant is set back down. "Uh... Okay, I'll stay here. I have a ton of tupperwares. I used them while I was experimenting with when exactly Ground stops being Ground. In the second cabinet on the left of the fridge. Nice to meet you, I'll be up in like... Ten?"

Juniper nods.

"Sorry, am I missing something obvious? I've just always been a bit of a scatterbrain."

"It sounded like you wanted to go upstairs without me. And I am kind of a rambler in person, so I keep saying unrelated things. I don't mind if you stay here?"

"We can end here, Amaris." Juniper speaks up. "I'll send you an email with what I find on your questions."

"Oh. Okay. I'll follow you up after all, then."

Hazel grins!

"We can try out my cooking skill then! Juniper, just a heads up to check my profile, I was a little anxious about this one 'cause it's so much more a rabbit thing but I've decided I'd like to try it anyway."

"Well, you have to share it with me every time, you know. System's good about privacy like that. Only the Artonans can see everything automatically." Juniper shrugs.

"And you're a Unique, of course your skills will be weird. I'm surprised they put you with us Wrights at all, honestly."

"I definitely see what you mean. I don't know what's up with the Wright designation, I'm just happy I get to be here." She shrugs.

System, share my profile with Juniper please.

"There you go, and I'll head up now so my milk doesn't spoil."

A surprisingly handsome boy wearing a dress shirt is working on the scorch mark. He waves but doesn't try to chat, just goes back to repeatedly making the same strange complicated hand gesture, which eats a bit of the mark each time.

He has a hovering name tag in the System view.

Frankie, Rabbit, D. Ask me anything!

She waves back and heads on upstairs; her groceries need a fridge.

Nothing else interrupts this quest. Math student is still mathing. There's a tray of chocolate chip cookies on a table saying 'Experimental instant bake. Take one... If you DARE'. The lounge area is otherwise empty.

She dares! She definitely dares!

It could be literally magic, Cherry, please -

Too late, she's already swiped one and taken a bite.

It tastes... Like a chocolate chip cookie! Sweet and chocolate and buttery.

Also, kind of... Bread-y? Hint of sourdough?

It is still chocolate, win for her.

She takes her cookie and her groceries back into her dorm and keeps munching away.

Time to put away the milk and the veggies and see if she can find a chef's knife in this kitchen anywhere.

There's plenty of silverware and cutlery.

She grabs the chef's knife from the knife block next to the toaster, a cutting board from one of the drawers, and then goes for Amaris's tupperware.

It's been a few months she last used her knife skills from the nepalese pizza restaurant she had as a summer job, but she's pretty sure she can still dice a tomato and get it into a small tupperware container. Given Amaris probably stored parts in them she's going to wash it before she uses it.

It seems clean enough, but there's dish soap there and ready.

She will give it a quick rinse with a little soap and then get to work on the tomato.

She hums softly to herself. She's going to get to try out her magic powers in just a few hours and she can't wait.

(She finishes off the cookie while she works. The remainder of her nonperishable groceries sit forgotten on the counter.)

Coming up

From Amaris.

Cool, cool.

She fires back distractedly as she sweeps the tomato bits into the tupperware.

Amaris arrives with plant a minute later.

"Yo! Welcome to intake! I bet we'll get two more soon, any day now. Not gonna lie, I'm also curious about that rabbity skill. Or whatever. I know it's a lot to deal with."

Cherry opens her purse and pulls the pan out.

"It's this," she says. "Looks like a normal pan, right? But it's part of my Skill. If I use it in cooking it's supposed to enhance the food I use it on and maybe give it effects. I think it depends on the recipe, I'm going to have to experiment. I'm not a great cook but my thought was to make some burrito mix in it with some beans and onion and chili powder - I can't afford real meat yet, I'm on the food stamps program - and see how it turns out."

She peers at the pan. "Food stamps? Oh, the benefits thing. Burritos sound tasty. I get a lot of leftovers from a friend on this floor, so I haven't done much cooking myself. I'm a cafeteria and frozen stuff kind of person. You want to butcher a day-old lasagna for some ground beef or is that too much of a hassle? Or like, cross-contaminationy?"

"Absolutely, that would be great! I'm already going to be adding salsa so no need to worry about the tomato sauce."
