And she'll head back up to her room with her new clothes, expecting a text message at any moment.

Message from Olaf Svigden

Miss Bluebell, our restaurant focuses on lunch and dinner service, so prep work typically begins at 7 AM. Let me know which day you'll be coming in as soon as possible- Tomorrow, or Friday morning. Please ensure you're alert and ready and have any hair tied back. I'll provide a uniform to borrow. I don't know what your previous kitchen experience was like, but ours is a busy place particularly on Fridays, so expect to be moving pretty much the entire time.

Yeah, that all sounds pretty familiar to her. She'll have to pick up a hairnet and a hairtie. She'll have to get up WAY early for this to have plenty of time to get things in order... But starting on a Friday is evil, evil, evil and reminds her of the time on Mother's Day she walked in on one of the managers of her past place crying in the walk-in fridge. No thank you, she needs to try and come in tomorrow.

But does she have time to be prepared? She'd better get her ducks lined up. She needs black slacks, professional black work shoes to be on her feet all day in, hair ties and a hairnet. And to get down to Mr. Svigden's restaurant and back before nightfall. No time to slack off; she's got to hustle.

She checks the time on the System and the curfew time. How long does she have to get all that done?

It's 2:43 P.M. Anesidora time. Curfew is 11pm.

Then she will return the message.

I will pick up some uniform basics, do a dry run of the transit route this evening, and come in tomorrow morning. Thank you for this opportunity, Mr. Svigden.

Now she's got to drop off her new clothes, get her ID in her wallet and purse, and get out again and grab the uniform items including work shoes.

Tomorrow it is. Rise high.

What a curious sign-off. She wonders what kind of response it usually gets.

Well, for now she has to get busy with her errands and her dry run.

She ducks back into her dorm room and drops her clothes off on her bed, then starts putting away her ID in its proper place.

Amaris is there, along with another boy. They have study materials out.

"Hey Bluebell. This is Kevin. We happened to know each other a little bit on the outside."

"Yo, nice to meet you," says Kevin with a nod.

Hazel waves. "Nice to meet you, Kevin. I'd hang out but I'm in a huge rush, I'm being summoned to use my cooking skill in two days and I know absolutely nothing about Artonan cuisine, so..." She ducks her head and runs a hand through her hair. "Juniper's been a huge help and is getting me a prep position at a restaurant that prepares Artonan dishes but I've got to get together a uniform and everything before I leave for a practice shift at like five AM tomorrow morning."

She stuffs her ID in her wallet, stuffs her wallet in her purse, and waves to both of them on her way out the door. "Sorry really got to go I'll see you later tomorrow probably!"

And she beats feet to the elevator down again.

Shouted and surprised congratulations follow her out the door!

The west side third floor lounge is steadily getting busier. There's a group talking about something crafty and a couple people reading. The cookies are gone. They don't stop her, since she seems to be in a rush.

She calls up the system and brings up GPS trackers for plain black work shoes and black slacks, and follows them at a quick pace. She does not have a lot of time to get this done!

And a star slams into her and almost knocks her from her feet.

She holds her head. Owwwww, what was that?

It cheerfully pipes up.

The Right Tools For The Job (Freefall) 100 Every job requires tools, be they a socket wrench, measuring tape, a hand saw, or mop. So long as it is either mundanely accessible without background checks or you already have it, you can summon a copy of any tool you need. This only applies to when you're cleaning, fixing, building, or other material-based preparation. You can't directly use it in combat and you can't use the material of the tool itself. * In case it is not clear, free summon of any tool you own to your hand at will.

System, another new Skill. Please do not add this to my profile.

She's already committed her two safe slots, even if this is really rabbit-y and helpful.

Speaking of which,

I would also like to accept Master Gal-Fair's summoning offer. Is he in range to be texted?

Connection fee to Artona III: 400 argold plus 3 argold per minute

You may attach a note to your acceptance.

Oh, okay, she is definitely not going to text him then.

Attach a note to the acceptance for no additional fee? If so and only if so, please send:

Master Gal-Fair,

I have also developed a second additional power that is not on my profile. I accept to demonstrate my cooking skill, and if you wish to do analysis of the third we can arrange terms in person. Thank you for your time.

Summoning request has been accepted. Thank you for your service.

She calls up the GPS trackers again and heads for the shoe store, thinking to herself on the way.

So, girls, what do we think about accepting this summon? Obviously we're going, but we were kind of cornered by it appearing on us while we were talking with Juniper. What's the plan for taking more in future?

If we keep taking summons at this rate as Master Gal-Fair tracks our quickly-developing powers, we're going to become both highly suspicious and highly wealthy in short order. Discussing future contracts with Gal-Fair is going to be necessary, and some form of cover story.

Eight hundred Argold for eight hours' work is not an exceedingly good rate, compared to many offers. That's only a hundred Argold an hour, which is a powered-human wage and not an Artonan one. But I suppose it is technically unskilled work, and we need the money. Negotiating a longer term contract is probably smart, but we shouldn't hurry into it.

Honestly I'm super pumped! That's two hundred Argold over our expenses - another whole grand! For eight hours' work, that's like more than a hundred bucks an hour! Sure, technically we might be being underpaid by powered work standards, but at this rate we've got nothing whatsoever to worry about financially.

Let's all do our best not to let it go to our heads, alright?

As for the rapid power growth, let's just keep cool and try not to do anything cover-blowing. If that means turning down some summons then that's what we'll have to do. We are officially good for three months' runway at this point; we don't need to make any sudden moves.

Very sensible.

If we take a second summons this month at the same rate, what'll we do with the leftovers?
