When Hyacinth comes home to her new apartment for the first time after a long day at university, it's to the sight of moving bots just finishing dropping off the last of her stuff and moving furniture into place. The full-immersion VR pod her parents gave her is safely hooked up in the pod room, her bed is in her bedroom, she has chairs and a desk and some bookshelves. Clothes are mostly still in boxes, waiting to be hung up in the closet. Holovid and a cozy chair occupy the living room. She doesn't have any food in the small kitchen yet.
"Not gonna lie, calling the sting spice inspires Thoughts, but I probably should do more than just flirt."
She charges up a shadow cutter on her saber, then cuts the top off a large rock. It doesn't go quickly, but the blade slices smoothly through the stone, leaving her a chunk of rock in her hand. She starts carving it.
She grins warmly at Sin. "Challenging my art skills a bit. Maybe make something pretty. Start with something easy, then something a little more worthy of showing off, while figuring out how smoothly this thing can cut.."
She cuts it in half, and gradually carves a heart.
... Awwwwwwwww.
Okay, this girl might be strange but she thinks her heart is in the right place.
She is content to watch.
Okay, that worked well, it's smooth but not fast. She tosses the heart-shaped rock to Sin. With the other half she starts working on something more delicate. "I don't want to stop you from practicing, but also I don't mind if you wanna watch."
"... I like watching you work with your hands." Her gaze is maybe lingering a bit on Sable's forearms.
"I'm glad." She smiles gently and keeps working. At first it's a vague round shape, then some short grooves start to spiral around the top, and then gradually it becomes more floral in form.
Over the next few minutes, the shape gets refined to be a delicate rose. Then she holds it out to Hyacinth with a soft smile.
She accepts it, hugs it to her heart, and puts it in her inventory.
"Thank you," she says. "I..."
She ducks her head. "Thank you."
As they get closer to the goats, Sable tilts her head for a moment and then turns toward Sin. "One of the others wants to switch in, meet you more properly. Is that okay with you?"
And the body shifts, suddenly, twisting over a second or two into something shorter, with a messy bob of black hair and piercing green eyes. The breasts shift a little smaller, the hips a tiny bit narrower, and a dozen smaller changes integrating everything into a cohesive whole. The new girl shifts the saber to her other hip, to be ready to draw with her left hand instead of her right.
And then she looks at Hyacinth with an interested gleam. "Hi Hyacinth. I'm Hailey. Good to meet you. Forgive the lack of handshake, please, 'cause it takes me a while to feel comfortable with physical contact, and only happens with effort." Her voice is different, a bit higher, a bit sharper, a bit less musical.
Because Sable has four girls sharing her brain and they all agreed to use the same build?
"Y'know, Sable's more hopeful since meeting you than in the past year and a half. I'm impressed." And she's more cheerful than at any point since before the bitch tore her heart out and spat on it, too, but that's a story for another day.
