And one day somebody drops by.

"...Hi. Here to call in your favor since it's not your fault Ranary didn't get out like I'd planned?"

"It does seem pretty not-my-fault."

"Yeah, I agree. You were going to put a point in a... star?"

"Do you know the deal with stars, I love telling people the deal with stars."

"I have no idea what stars here are. We know back in my home world they're spheres of fire like the sun. Unless we're wrong, but that's the going theory."

"Here there are those but the ones in the sky are not that by virtue of the Valar being real bad at their jobs. The kind that are spheres of fire is the kind I want to put my disappearance point in. Stars are waaaay bigger than planets so it'll take a while to run through one."

"Depends on how much magic you do. Multiple points take longer to start growing noticeably on their own than one, you might want to hop around between a few even if they're all on one star. This would not be a star anybody's using?"

"I am not sure even your ex is that much of an asshole. Unused star."

"I'll take you down to the guild and get somebody to go with you to the empty world and show you how to hook into a point and make a new one."

"Thank you."

He takes her down to the guild and explains.

"Could you let other people get close enough to the star safely?" someone wonders.

"Depends how close to the star I need to be but if I can do it in this form and have the form intact afterwards then we'll know it's a yes."

"That'd be cool," says Cor.

"I'll bring her," someone else says, "sheep are this way -"

Thuringwethil follows agreeably.

The mage paints her and herself and brings both of them to the empty world and shows her a point and hooks her to it so she will be able to make a new point and tells her how to do that.

She spreads her wings and says the ritual words really dramatically and cackles with glee and is a mage.

And the mage will take them both back.

Thuringwethil flies loops in the sky, cackling maniacally.

"Well, I hope that wasn't a terrible idea."

"Yes, me too. It would be useful to have a Maia for scouting."

"Very."

Maia is so willing to be useful for scouting! Off she goes scouting.

A week later someone drops by where Cor and Findekáno are working. "Hi," she says.

This person isn't a mage. Cor can tell.

"Hi."

That's not her or the one we maged wasn't her and I think the one we maged was. ...Or her body disintegrated and that unmaged her but she'll probably tell us if that happened. What's that imply -
